Allegro89
What makes you think DCI isn't concerned/doesn't care?
Lead
Shouldn't DCI be concerned or care. Are they trying to build an activity or create their top 12 and that's it? DCI has helped the Glassmen immensely. More than you could probably imagine. Just FYI.
Elmo Blatch
Alumniof, please tell me what you would like DCI to do to show they care? About six years ago, DCI loaned money to The Cadets.
Chris Cartwright
Aghhhh it's so sad when a corps either folds completely or "temporarily" folds and can't get going again. It would be really cool if every member of the DCP community could donate to Glassmen....that would be something.

skywhopper
IIRC, Glassmen used to be able to raise a lot of money by running bingo games (like BD and SCV) but that's no longer possible in Ohio? Because of that, I worry that Glassmen would have trouble getting going again even with no debt. They always ran much higher expenses than other corps in their tier. But with the debt it's going to be next to impossible without significant outside help. They did get an allotment of DCI Finals week tickets to sell and they still ran their "All-Star" show this year. But those are probably just enough to cover debt service. Its just not that profitable anymore. I understand that the Bluecoats still have a successful bingo operation. Ohio now has 4 casinos (Toledo, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati) that would definitely have impact on bingo operations in those areas but Glassmen's bingo had gone belly up before the casinos were even was allowed by state law. They should have addressed the bingo issue 4-5 years ago when it was no longer a viable source of income instead of waiting until massive debt was accumulated. How other corps do it these days is unknown to me but ultimately I think corps need to establish businesses that exist to support the organization like Crown has done with CrownTickets and their CrownStore. Freedom
Can someone explain to me how Bingo makes money. Like, explain how it works. I don't get it.
rmurrey74
Can someone explain to me how Bingo makes money. Like, explain how it works. I don't get it. People pay money to play bingo and instant tickets. You pay out less money in prizes. Profit.
Lead
People come and play Bingo. Bingo hall makes a percentage of every game played. Bingo hall sells concessions (lots of them) and makes a percentage. Just takes people to run the games and the concession stand, and as long as the Bingo hall is in an area where they can be successful (i.e., not in a barren, run-down ghetto like Glassmen's was), then the Bingo game makes good money. I heard something about Blue Devils organization just building or finishing a NEW Bingo hall. If done correctly, it makes ungodly amounts of cash.
