BD '14 show design - possible announcement!

Recommended Posts

Actually, I heard from one of the arrangers that they are doing a new take on the Aaron Copland’s composition, Appalachian Spring. The show is going to be called, Re-Application Spring.

Doh!

Would it still be performed by a drum and beagle corps?

Meh....BD could replicate the 86 show -- uniforms and all -- and people would still complain.

now you are beginning to sound like Hopkins.

You are a different person, aren't you?

They will too!

I would love to see them do some more symphonic music or maybe even Phantom of the Opera!

You're close, but that arranger is also writing Pioneer's show, and that's the show to which he was referring. It's to be based on this body wash and shampoo, as the instructions read, "Apply, rinse, re-apply, rinse."

Can I ask WHY? Those boys across the bay pretty much wrote and closed the book on that subject, what could the Blue Devils do differently with it?

Can BD do more Bernard Hermann music? That 2000 show was amazing, would love to see them do more of that. Or more of Piazzola's music like in 1999. He wrote a lot that would translate. Or go atonal orchestral with Les Six or Schoenberg, Webern, and Berg?
