You mention the Chicago Trip in 89 and as you well know I was chief judge that day... and it was a DISASTER... wonderful show, great corps, top judging panel, paid attendance of what? 25? 50? Someone smarter than I has to figure out how to make this happen and with travel costs going up each year it becomes a larger challenge with time... I'm thinking that the only real opportunity is either Atlanta or Racine... and even then it requires some sort of financial backing - read: Corporate or Municipal Sponsorship which will pay the corps expenses and allow for a reasonable admission price to attract the public... I just think they have been on Top for such a long Time ( and rightfully so). That they should bite the bullet and go to a Minn. Brass, or Racine show once in a while. I think a show with: Reading, Minn. Brass, Cabs, Kilties, CV Atlanta, Govies, and Cincinnati. Then an Exhibition by Cavaliers Alumni. I know that is a pipe dream. With that in mind, is there a large festival in Racine during the drum corps season (similar to the Barnum Festival in CT) where the show becomes an add-on venue with a built-in crowd? ... like this: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Racine County Fair Annually at the end of July. Youth and Adult exhibits- from Animal to art, photography, woodworking , midway, commercial vendors, food, entertainment daily tractor truck, Garden Tractor, pedal pulls, music fun for all ages. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A dc show "packaged" in with a local event (and corporate sponsors) would have a better chance to succeed than a straight out dc show on its own - IMO :-) Quote
