"I used to work with a senior corps (that shall remain nameless) that would have 50 ankle bracelets start alarming when they went over the George Washington Bridge..."

That would be truly a funny line if our newest member of the Hall of Fame didn't have me convinced he was serious...

I agree that this must again happen... but... it takes the right alignment of the stars and moon...

You mention the Chicago Trip in 89 and as you well know I was chief judge that day... and it was a DISASTER... wonderful show, great corps, top judging panel, paid attendance of what? 25? 50?

Someone smarter than I has to figure out how to make this happen and with travel costs going up each year it becomes a larger challenge with time...

I'm thinking that the only real opportunity is either Atlanta or Racine... and even then it requires some sort of financial backing - read: Corporate or Municipal Sponsorship which will pay the corps expenses and allow for a reasonable admission price to attract the public...

HUGE DAUNTING TASK

Put it Racine, and you'll have a couple thousand..........

That Salem show also had MCL (and I still keep kicking myself for not marching that summer so I could at least go visit some family while there).

This is something I would like to see also. I do have a problem that Reading does not do more in the Travel area. I just think they have been on Top for such a long Time ( and rightfully so). That they should bite the bullet and go to a Minn. Brass, or Racine show once in a while.

I think a show with: Reading, Minn. Brass, Cabs, Kilties, CV Atlanta, Govies, and Cincinnati. Then an Exhibition by Cavaliers Alumni. I know that is a pipe dream. But THAT Shure Would make a point as to " IF " a Crowd would show up. I think it could do very well.

Glass Bowl (Glassmen's homeshow site, usually). Heck, make it a fundraiser to help them out on a Saturday in early August.

491 miles - Reading, PA

562 miles - Hawthorne, NJ

503 miles - Allentown, PA

666 miles - Atlanta, GA

315 miles - Racine, WI

647 miles - Minneapolis, MN

207 miles - Cincinnati, OH

565 miles - Princeton, NJ

618 miles - Centereach, NY

256 miles - Rosemont, IL

274 miles - Bloomington, IN

A line-up similar as such in Racine would be standing room only. The Cabs, as example, do have a following in the area. Racine is one of the most drum corps savvy towns in America.

With that in mind, is there a large festival in Racine during the drum corps season (similar to the Barnum Festival in CT) where the show becomes an add-on venue with a built-in crowd? ... like this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Racine County Fair

Annually at the end of July. Youth and Adult exhibits- from Animal to art, photography, woodworking , midway, commercial vendors, food, entertainment daily tractor truck, Garden Tractor, pedal pulls, music fun for all ages.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A dc show "packaged" in with a local event (and corporate sponsors) would have a better chance to succeed than a straight out dc show on its own - IMO

:-)
