Jeff Ream
So what's this I read in another post about the Scouts not participating in any of the TOC shows? Is this yet another Stewart era move to buck the establishment? On one hand, I could see how they don't like the idea of that group, but at the same time, what good would it do to fight against them? Isn't it better to "fight" from within instead of being an outsider? Also, if this is a political move, won't it hurt them politically and competitively? expect more info soon
tesmusic
So…this show is going to be awesome. Just saying. Oh, and in case there are haters already that haven't heard the corps yet, I'm basing my thoughts on true samples of the program. Not just hearsay. swmstom
Was seeing on facebook where Scouts wrapped up their January camp this past weekend. The post gave a glimpse at some of the tunes we'll all get to hear....Fanfare for the New, Fugue and Concerto to end all Concertos. Excited to see how all this comes together and what other pieces they will put on the field.

Some snippets from Argonne Rebels and Guardsmen version from BITD, for those wanting to get a winter's glimpse of it, and if perhaps not familiar that much with it, or had forgotten the musical piece : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyxuqMS2BLU also, Guardsmen from '79 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl714e7QtEQ Edited January 22, 2014 by BRASSO

But if the arrangement of the charts are true to Kenton and Ellis jazz form, as opposed to the current trend for the judges to reward hacking up obscure modern musical hair balls somewhat based on the source material and driven by ‘it is all about the visual’, the Scouts will once again find themselves struggling to be competitive for the top twelve let alone punch into the top five; sad to say. Ghost
I marched with at least two brass members who joined the USAF D&BC. They were still with them in 68. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq3abfQk8Bo

I just played it, and as one would surmise, with their brass line, it sounds awsome.
oldbandguy
Music from Stan Kenton and from Don Ellis ? ' Never heard of either one of 'em. What a huge disappointment. You might say they were the Justin Beiber and JayZ of their day...give 'em a chance.
