CHRISP
Was there a US Open in 84? I thought there was but I can't find any scores. Fromthepressbox.com doesn't show any either.
Northern Thunder
Yes, it was held August 9-10. SCV took open class, while the Canadian Knights won Class 'A'.

rayfallon
That was at the minor league ball park in Columbus, no? Geez what a lightning and rain storm that evening. Worst part was keeping corps sitting on buses while the decision was made. Not sure I wanted to be reminded about that one. Pardon my ignorance - was that Glassmen doing "Nights in White Satin" that year? I have this vague memory of hearing/seeing them doing it in that park that night (before the rain)

I have this vague memory of hearing/seeing them doing it in that park that night (before the rain) I think you're right about Columbus, Ray. I know the finals were held in Columbus in '81 (prelims were still in Marion). I believe the finals were held in Columbus several other years after that. I know Garfield was disqualified for messing up the field in Columbus (I'm fairly certain that was in '83.) I also know the Columbus scoreboard took a direct hit by lightning at finals one year. As for the Glassmen....it was 1994 when they played "Nights in White Satin".
pearlsnaredrummer77
Brian, There were Class A prelims, right? No need for scores, but i seem to remember Class A pre-lims & finals like at the AIO.
