flammaster
I prefer the ones that open from the outside of the can. Those are the best openers you can get IMHO.

CHRISP
What year did Crossmen start their show with a drum feature?
Hook'emCavies
I really want to say my all time favorite opener is from The Cavaliers 1995 show "The Planets". Mars is just loud, powerful, and visually stunning even by today's standards.
BrianM
What year did Crossmen start their show with a drum feature? 1996. What a year!
wallace
Cadets of Bergen 1991: Short Ride in a Fast Machine- This one has more punch to it in my opinion than the Vanguard version in 2001. I love this piece, and the way CBC played it that year, really brought out the impact moments. Side Note: After listening to Uffes Workshop- I am getting some vibe, similar to when I hear Short Ride. Can't wait to see the Bluecoats play it. I wholeheartedly agree. That has the potential to be the brass number of the year.
wallace
Gosh, so many good ones already listed, but I'll have to go with 1999 Cadets. It was insane!
Tim K
Since 27th and North Star have already been mentioned, two of my favorites, I'd like to offer the following: Old School: PR 1979, Saint Seans Symphony #3 Mid School (if there is such a phrase) Madison 1999 "Jesus Christ, Superstar" talk about sheer power! New School: Crown 2013
BeenThereDoneThat
Blue Devils, Channel One Suite. This is the second correct answer. And, yes, the '70's & 80's were the glory years.
