Is Drum Corps a sport?

Recommended Posts

Do drum corps musicians wear athletic cups?

No, but there are times some should. Cavaliers 03, and Crown 13 have scarred the minds of some folks.

I'd say so. It's an incredibly athletic endeavor that does merit a score, much like gymnastics, figure skating, etc... Doesn't mean it's not art, too, though.

Yes; but it is also a business and a sport. An activity can be two or more things simultaneously.

now stop. i'm agreeing with you. we can't have that!

Does the scholastic system consider marching band to be part of sports?

some do. in fact, for many universities, the marching band isn't funded by the music department, but the sports department

Like I told another poster, the odds of winning Powerball is 1 in 175,223,510 and people do win the thing. So, on occasion, we will find ourselves in agreement. :wow:

So I'm writing my AP Research Paper on DCI and whether it is a sport or not. If you could share your opinions on this (whether you agree or not) it would be a lot of help! And who better to ask than people who have marched Drum Corps?

Yes, Drum Corps is " a sport ".... as it has all the requisite attributes we commonly find in the universal, world wide, popular Sport of Revenge. Woman have a tendency to be particularly skilled at this sport and have an inherent edge in this sports performance in my humble opinion.
