DCPI Season 22 Discussion

Recommended Posts

As per the schedule, the caption limits have been re-established going forward.

Corps are rolling out from the regionals and into the second half of the season. Bakersfield CA's Memorial Stadium hosts the largest World Class event of the day as western-based corps begin to work their way east. Meanwhile, Asheville HS in Asheville NC and Campbell County HS in Alexandria KY (a suburb of Cincinnati) will see several of the big name corps in action as they start to filter down towards the Orlando event scheduled for the end of the week.

Also, Open and Class A corps start their separate tour with a stop in Endicott NY. This has been a popular region of New York for smaller corps events and this year is no exception as we have over 30 corps registered for this event in what looks like the start of a good trend. Open Class corps will take the field at Binghamton HS while Class A corps will march into action at Endicott-Union HS.

California will be shaking today as corps march up and down both the northern and southern regions of the state. Open Class and Class A corps enter "The Pit" at UC Davis's Aggie Stadium for today's show originally scheduled for Elk Grove CA, and World Class corps will be competing in "The OC" at Huntington Beach HS.

Back east (or southeast, rather), expect a photo finish at Dobyns-Bennet HS in Kingsport TN (a former home of Kodak Film) and DCPI returns to Irmo HS in Columbia SC after being away for several seasons.

Scores from last night may be a little delayed due to an error on DCI's recap page. Meanwhile, here's a look at today's events.

The Open Class/Class A event in New Britain CT is PACKED today, so it will be split between two venues. Open Class corps will compete at New Britain Veterans Stadium, while Class A corps will take the field at Southern CT State University's stadium down in New Haven. Meanwhile, the western Open/A event in Fremont CA will take place at Tak Fudenna Stadium.

World Class corps are in action in two of the southern corners of the country, with events at Wheelock Stadium in Riverside CA and Memorial Stadium in Savannah GA.

It looks like DCI's website is still having problems displaying one of their recaps, so what I will do is wait until 5 PM or so and if the recap in question still isn't up, I will generate the scores from the corps at that event so we can get our scores from last night up in a timely fashion.

Knights sure looked good in their other home town of Columbia! Number one! We were also thrilled with two golds and a bronze in eastern regionals for the Knight org! Two regionals go to CLASS!

Since it's the executive director's birthday today, the schedule is a bit light today with just two events. Open Class and Class A corps will be in western Massachusetts tonight, and it's Class A corps that get the larger venue as their show will be at the recently refurbished McGuirk Stadium in Amherst MA while Open Class corps step off at Holyoke HS in Chicopee MA.

Meanwhile, World Class corps will be in action in the scenic Smoky Mountain region of Tennessee. Buckeye Brass and Ivory Brigade have been battling back and forth all season, and tonight's show at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga marks another battle between these two young, talented corps.

I've been really enjoying looking into the "Tiny House" movement lately, so today's show theme is "Tiny Stadiums" (but don't worry- they're still good facilities).

The Jacksonville FL event will take place at St. Augustine HS, and will mark the debut of Black Beat NZ, the first corps from New Zealand to compete in DCPI! They'll be welcomed to the US by a strong contingent of top corps, including Star of Jupiter, Quiksilver, Ohio Valley Thunder and Buckeye Brass, among others.

Out west, the western tour is chugging along, rolling into John Riggs Stadium in Mesa AZ. Circle City Sound look to be the favorites tonight, but there's always room for an upset.

Also out west, Open Class and Class A corps will be in action in the Simi Valley region of southern CA, stepping off at Newbury Park HS.

Ivory Brigade was doing pretty good despite the fact that I missed the reshuffle and was locked in two points below the max until just now. So expect Ivory Brigade to bring it even more. Good news for you guys in Open Class Abracadabra Academy still hasn't been able to update for their extra points.
