quietcity
I sympathize with Crown right now. They must be feeling mighty frustrated, especially after finishing 3rd in brass tonight, and losing brass to BD too. These are enormously talented kids, but they are saddled with a show design that has plateaued.

jkingqm
You need to listen to some brass and music analysis tapes. I would love to listen to some judging tapes. Are there any available? Any year, any corp is fine.
cfirwin3
Style absolutely is part of the equation, not only on the brass sheet, but the music analysis sheet as well. It has to be. Now having said that, it certainly doesn't mean Style X is easier than Style Y by any stretch. But it does mean that Corps A playing and achieving Style X is considered, just as Corps B playing and achieving Style Y is considered. You need to listen to some brass and music analysis tapes. If style and genre (apart from champion worthy arranging and appropriate GE intent) were a factor... then some styles and genres would be taboo. This is not the case. Sideways
Tag ending for Cadets could be Battle Hymn with the entire horn line doing a high mark time on the stage....;)
hughesmr
So nice of you. Cadets are awesome and your comment and suggestion is mean-spirited. Grow up. Lighten up, bud. All in good fun.

Kamarag
If style and genre (apart from champion worthy arranging and appropriate GE intent) were a factor... then some styles and genres would be taboo. This is not the case. LOL, you'd be surprised. From an actual conversation I had with a music judge a few years ago at a post show critique when discussing the very topic of musical style: Judge: "Who is Justin Timberlake and Christina...what? Agular?" Me: /facepam Same night, different judge: "You guys really need to swing the shout section of the Timberlake piece more." Me: "Uh, no...it's not jazz? And we're not a college band?" packetslave
I sympathize with Crown right now. They must be feeling mighty frustrated, especially after finishing 3rd in brass tonight, and losing brass to BD too. These are enormously talented kids, but they are saddled with a show design that has plateaued. They lost brass because they had a bad run. The content is there, they just didn't execute tonight like they have the rest of the season. The sub-captions reflect this: 96 in content (for 1st), but 91 in achievement (for 3rd).Crown has a phenomenal hornline, but anybody can have a bad night. Compare tonight to West Chester (97 in content, 96 in achievement) for a solid first in brass. jackroberts
What was on the four tarps the cadets added? I believe they are images of the four presidents in the show.
