Notable Records maybe not mentioned

Recommended Posts

There's been a big deal made about the 99.65 record by the Blue Devils and also the highest score and finish for the Bluecoats.

There are also some that I think are notable as well.

1) This makes the 7th award in a row that the Blue Devils have won for Color Guard (not sure if that's an all-time streak, but that's incredibly impressive)

2) We have had 5 different winners of the Fred Sanford Best Percussion Award in a row - consistency of variety!!!

(2010 - Phantom Regiment)
(2011 - Cavaliers)

(2012 - Blue Devils)
(2013 - Cadets)

(2014 - SCV)

I love the variety that is represented by the percussion award and I hope that it can continue. Perhaps it can be 6 in a row next year with the Bluecoats???? That'd be pretty cool!

Enjoy - and congratulations to all the corps! What an amazing season.

Interestingly enough, two of those percussion awards were by the same percussion caption head. Had he not left one corps to start a career at another, it may have been less consistent. Not saying what you are saying is wrong, just noting an interesting tidbit. Also, BD's guard getting 7 in a row is pretty incredible. I think it will take someone from their organization branching and doing something on their own for another corps to topple them.

I believe Crossmen had the highest 12th place score ever as well. Interestingly, 1988 Suncoast Sound still holds the record for highest 10th place score, even 25 years later.

Great thread. Thanks for posting. Can anyone think of any other records/ interesting stats?

Is Blue Devils B in 15th the highest ever for a feeder corps? Any predictions when they will make finals? I'll throw out 2017.
