Cappybara
Let me break down the partial ignorance to that comment . . . . . i love DCI for every year its existed. i just love the conceptual changes and increased difficulty of the newer years (2000's). the sound of the 90's i prefer, the start of the innovations of the 80's i love and the originality and superb sound of the 70' is unmatched. That has nothing to do with the age. I personally love the 90's and 2000's way more simply because they are more cutting edge, alot more difficult and incredibly visual! so Everyfan......... i encourage you to state your favorite shows. i can say like BRASSO my favorites change every day because i find new shows to watch and admire. i finally got to see SCV 2000 today and i absolutely loved it! I also saw Bloo 95 and it was incredible to me. so . . . . . . wheres your top 10? Can you guess my age? The question is are you the exception or the rule? That's the real debate; yet you seem to want to state your opposing view to the OP's view as fact.

HomerSimpson
9. 1995 Magic of Orlando - Danse Animale 7. 1996 Magic Thanks for the Magic props, guys! I marched these two summers with Magic, and they were two completely unique seasons. 1995 was trial after trial...bad busses, tough situations all summer (we didn't make finals of DCI Midwest...terrible performance that afternoon in Ypsilanti...) and finally got it together for finals. Barely. I think the show maxed out way, way early in the season, and we struggled to make it great by the end of the year. We actually won DCI South that summer... 1996 was incredible. We teetered on the edge of inconsistency all summer long until Robert Smith rounded us up after the Clifton, NJ show and asked us if we REALLY wanted to be great. He told us if we were going to be great, we'd work harder in the last two weeks of tour than we ever have in our lives. Of course, we all said, "yes, we want to be great..." The next two weeks are a total blur to me, but we pushed ourselves SO hard, and maxed out a pretty challenging show. We rehearsed nonstop. Unfortunately, we peaked on Semi's night, with the highest score the corps would receive (prior to the 2002 DII group...which was outstanding). Our Finals performance was good on energy but not our cleanest run. I'm still desperately trying to find a video of our semi's performance from 1996! Still, the two best summers of my life. My top 12 favorites: 12. 1983 Cadets 11. 1985 Suncoast 10. 1991 Star 9. 1999 BD (a ton of my Magic pals moved on to BD this summer) 8. 1990 SCV 7. 1987 Cadets 6. 1988 Suncoast 5. 1990 Cavaliers 4. 2014 Bluecoats (innovation at it's finest, I think) 3. 1993 Star (see above) 2. 1996 Magic (biased!) 1. 1987 Cadets

jjeffeory
Putting together an accurate list of top 10 favorite shows is too hard. There's a lot of criteria one could go by when deciding favorite: guard, percussion, theme, music, emotional moment, et cetera... There are moments in every show that are great, and there moments in every show that are not so great. I think it's been interesting to see that the newer members favorite shows skew to more recent shows, and the less new or well established members favorite shows tend to skew older, and even all over the place.

Yes... I think this could naturally be expected to be the case too. For some of those that have been following Drum Corps for many years, as several others have said here, its really impossible to pick just 10 -12 favorite shows. Also, if the question was " 10-12 best VISUAL shows", this would be a different list ( for me anyway ) than " 10-12 best MUSICAL shows ".
