What are the different types of headwear and which one is your favorit

Recommended Posts

So I know there is the Shako, Aussie, "Helmet" that I've seen called "Regimental", Spartan, Carolina Crown... anymore I'm missing?

Which is your favorite type of helmet in general?

Which corps wears their headwear best?

I'm a fan of certain types of shakos... ones that don't sit too far down on the head. BD's shakos are pretty much the epitome IMO, especially paired with a tall, light plume (no black!!). They make the member look extremely tall.

For my money, it's Vanguard. It is a look with purpose, even when standing still.

It's the feather that makes it better.

The Phantom Regiment style helmets are really cool, but my favorites have got to be the aussies with feathers.

However, I feel like the aussies are underutilized as a visual element, especially with the brim.

There are few that I don't like. I like Aussie-style better than shako, although a uniform like the Cadets wouldn't look good with anything but a shako.

I really like what the Academy did with the ribbons tied around their shakos this year. I thought it made them look cool - particularly the fact the color of the ribbon matched the ties they were wearing.

I thought Crown's "hats" looked better with a feather than without.

OMG can you imagine that uniform with an aussie??? I would die laughing.
