The interesting bent-knee forward, straight-leg backwards hybrid technique was not one I'd seen in a long time. Seems like most corps decide on one or the other. I actually really liked the drill on paper when I saw it. The problem is with Myron's drill that he writes it at such a high level and doesn't always take into consideration what the difficulty of the drill was the year before, so the group-high school or drum corps-doesn't have time to grow accustomed to his writing. It worked well for so many years with SCV because it was all they knew. Same thing with PR in 2010, IMO. Brilliant guy though. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One thing though, it was one example in the past several years where very little drill changed from the beginning of the season until the end and this coming after 2009 where so much changed. Myron is brilliant. He's also a really nice person. Myron is one of the most enjoyable people I've ever worked with. Still not sure why they chose the hybrid technique. It hasn't really been done since the 80s, so maybe they wanted the throw-back. Wouldn't mind seeing them go for a full straight-leg with the white pants. theyremovingit Posted October 29, 2014 Share Posted October 29, 2014 You know, even though it's just a bunch hopeful speculation, a Part Tres of A Drum Corps Fan's Dream would actually be a great idea on the design team's part. Just look at the facts. It will be 19 years since Part Dos this summer, and 20 years since Part Uno. The shows are titled in a way that allows multiple parts, so a Part Tres wouldn't be considered a rehash of old stuff(so long as the design team keeps things fresh and introduces new ideas rather than defaulting to generic Spanish Phrygian Mode jams). Plus, Madison is in need of a revival of its image and the way younger audiences view them. A ########, balls to the wall, unforgettable show that reflects Madison's old identity while bringing new things to the table would definitely spark new interest in them. Just some thoughts I had.
