Madcityscout
I'm not a percussion person. So, I need to ask what is the special significance of Mylar heads?
tesmusic
I'm not a percussion person. So, I need to ask what is the special significance of Mylar heads? They are a deeper, sometimes described as "wetter" sound. Kevlar head's are much tighter on the drum and can sometimes feel like you're playing on a table top if they're cranked too hard. Many say it's harder to play clean on mylar heads, and often parts may not contain as much intricacy as those lines playing on kevlar. If you listen to a snare break up until the late 80's, then listen to snare break from after that time period you'd probably be able to hear the difference. Here's a snare solo from an SCV member in the 1970's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aZPHXyGP3Y on mylar. Here's a snare solo from Pat Fitzgibbon from 1999 Madison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08UcgR2Fv6o Edited March 16, 2015 by tesmusic
BigBadMadMan
If the guard and visual is on pace from what we're hearing from the brass and percussion we could be in for something special this year. Unlikely.

tesmusic
Unlikely. There it is. Welcome back! Edited March 16, 2015 by tesmusic
Lincoln
Unlikely. I don't agree. New additions to their staff have proven records AND some of them have already worked together with other groups. This is one corps I think will move up the ranks. I am looking forward to their show!
Jluke897
Unlikely. With the hires on the Design team why not. KC Michel and David Veda did great work at Phantom. We will see in June

He's just a troll that will do nothing but come in here and complain about the corps with no knowledge, and no basis for his comments, except maybe watching a youtube video, I wouldn't feed him. MarkC
I am really intrigued by what this show will be. The clips we've heard from the hornline and now the battery don't really mesh. I thought the battery clip sounded like a cadence but apparently it is part of the Opener. I really think Madison is primed for a great year - one where they can separate and make their way up past a few groups.
