The off-season around here tends to get pretty repetitive.

I am not here to break that trend.

For this thread assignment, I ask: Pick a corps (or two or three!) and tell us what *you* would change for next year.

Approach this from the competitive mindset. Is the corps weak in some area that needs shoring up? Does the instructional staff need a shake-up? Design team/philosophy need a shot in the arm? What's going to get the corps you pick to that next level?

Or, conversely, what's going to keep them from losing ground?

My example:

How I would win The Blue Devils another gold medal:

- Make sure a meteor doesn't strike the earth before next season, necessitating a cancellation of finals

Crossmen need to retain members from this year. Try to limit/eliminate the more talented members going to a "better" corps (placement-wise). Keep building on the talent they are developing. If I remember correctly they had somewhere around 100 new/rookie members this past season.

I would.....

Have Blue Devils re-do the whole 1976 show

SCV re-do Phantom of The Opera show

Cadets to do a tribute to Star of Indiana

Boston to do a tribute to Argonne Rebels

Spirit of Atlanta to do a tribute to Spirit of Atlanta and Jim Ott

So you'd like DCI to go to alumni tribute corps status?!

Why would Cadets to a tribute to a corps they consistently beat: one that shared very similar design tendencies and trends?

ah, Perc, then there was 1991...

Very true, where Star did beat Cadets with a drill designed by George Zingali who put Cadets in the early and mid 80's.

My heart always goes with the Troopers. Since I won't pretend to have the level of expertise contained on the staff which they currently employ, I will trust them to do the best job for the Corps which they have always done. I think they act and perform sincerely...AND with the best interests of the Corps in mind. They are the professionals...I am not.
