xandandl
At the November camp, the staff was very blunt with the corps members that the fans of the Cadets had complained about the slower endings, the lack of velocity drill, and the sense of losing what some saw as their unique signature. The closing tempo of 200 or higher was set as a goal before the membership which they seemingly were eager to embrace. There was great discussion about physical endurance, mental focus, and the ability to self-generate the energy and capacity to master the moments from the 10 minute mark on. Hence the development of the "Holy Name Track Team program." The members have been physically training for this tempo and finale since first camp as a corps and individually. As GH has said on public video, they (the members) organized an accountability system of logging hours in the gym and track between camps to build the endurance and finesse the speed. If they are able to pull it off, the crowds will erupt. As Crown and BD are both planning some old school guard moves (which to this generation may seem as new stuff,) the velocity closer may also seem a unique contribution in this "Modern" era. Time will tell. Under two weeks...with changes framing each regional as well. Edited June 5, 2015 by xandandl

George Dixon
its during the french horn solo - so they may not be playing during (at least part of) that tempo
Tobias
They are definitely the most fit Cadets corps I've seen in a long time. I remember 2009 when they did their unveiling to alumni in NNJ in mid June. The brass sounded so winded by mid show and the closer sounded like half the kids weren't playing. The vids I've seen from ST 2015, these kids are fit and playing and projecting very impressively at this stage. I think the ballad and Waltz being slower will allow the higher tempos to be achieved in the closer.
xandandl
Like stained glass which needs the black leading to allow the colors to "pop" and like silence which makes us appreciate the various sounds, so contrast of tempos and their modulation make for an exciting program. Can't wait to see them live now and in August.

It's the corps membership themselves that complained.
