Executive Director David Stollberg said “Marvin and Dan both provide the much needed leadership and continuity for the corps during rehearsals and performances. They are valuable keys to the corps in liaison between staff and membership. It’s great to have them continue these roles.” Marvin Fontaine got his start as a Music Education major at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC and is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management. He is also a graduate of the Keller Graduate School of Management in Atlanta, GA where he holds a Master of Science degree in Project Management. He is a founding member of CV and has been involved with the corps for every year of our 18 year existence. During his time with the corps, Marvin has been drum major (for fourteen of CV’s seventeen year history), a member of the Horn Line, Tour Director, a member of the Board of Directors, received the CV Director’s Award in 2012 and was selected CV Member of the Year in 2014.Marvin is currently a Principal Consultant for CIBER where he manages the implementation of telephony and other technology projects world-wide. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and lives in Buford, GA with his wife Patricia and three daughters.Dan Detweiler is a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. He is also a graduate of Piedmont College in Demorest, GA where he holds a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and an Education Specialist degree in Teaching and Learning. He has served as an adjudicator and clinician all over the Southeast as well as New York and Alaska. He judges for the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit, the Southern Association for Performing Arts as well as the Carolina Indoor Performing Arts Association. Some of his performance and instructional experience outside of the public school system includes participation with the sixteen time world champion Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps from Concord, CA as well as instructing the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps. He also has served as visual designer and consultant for several band programs in the Atlanta area and throughout the Southeast. He has served as drum major for CV since 2012 and was selected as CV Member of the Year in 2013.Dan is currently the music director at Liberty Elementary in Canton, GA. Before beginning his tenure at Liberty, Dan was the Director of bands and orchestras at Woodstock High School in Woodstock, GA as well as the director of bands at South Cobb High School in Austell, GA.
