Drum corps and color guard friends in Southern California: A few months ago, the VK Alumni Corps hosted a screening of Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood. If you weren't able to attend that screening, or if you'd just like to see it again, there is a screening coming up in Burbank on Monday, June 15. The catch is that you have to make your reservations to secure tickets before Midnight this coming Thursday, June 4.

Go to the website below to book your tickets. Remember, if the minimum number of tickets aren't reserved by Thursday night, there will be no screening, and your credit card will not be charged.

This screening is independent of the VKAC.

Thanks for plugging this SoCal screening Garry! Our movie is a perfect way to introduce someone new to the drum corps activity. Not only have we taken the challenge of explaining it off your plate, but audience members really get a taste of what it's like to be a marching member. We show both the highs and the lows in a DCI season. This film was designed to be experienced in a movie theater with big theatrical, 5.1 surround sound.

Please spread the word to any of your friends in the Los Angeles area. There's limited time to hit the ticket minimum, and no tickets will be sold at the door.

Thank you!

Mac Smith - Director/Producer "Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood"

P.S. If this screening reaches the ticket quota, then I will fly down from Northern California for the screening to do a Q&A after the film.

Wow! A big jump in ticket reservations overnight, but still need 38 more to reach the tipping point, and drag Mac down south!

Even if you can't attend, you can reserve tickets and pass them on to others, or know that you helped make it possible for the screening to happen. That's how VKAC made our minimum back in January. After we reached the tipping point, we sold a lot more tickets to the "fence sitters" waiting for the screening to tip. If they had reserved their tickets sooner, they wouldn't have had to wait, you know?

Another huge jump in ticket reservations today for our June 15th, Burbank, CA screening! 52 have been pre-sold and there only need to be 15 more tickets reserved to give this screening the "green light!"

Thank you for helping us get the word out DCP community! 😀👍🎉

We would love it if you could help get the word out about this possible screening in Foxboro on July 2nd. If it gets confirmed then it will screen from 1pm to 2:30pm which leaves plenty of time to attend the Boston Crusaders 75th Gala & the live DCI show at Gillette Stadium. The theater is located right next to the stadium.

It's about to be cancelled because they haven't reached their ticket minimum. There needs to be 38 more ticket reservations by June 18th at midnight (EST) for it to be confirmed. No credit cards are charged until the screening "tips."

This is a great way to introduce new people to the activity. It not only explains the activity, but also what it's like to be a marching member. Seeing the film and then the "live" show......seems like a fun day. :)

"This film (which currently has a rating of 9.6 out of 10 stars on IMDb.com) has won three film festival awards and has achieved the fine balance of not dumbing down the subject matter for the seasoned drum corps fan, but also making the film work for someone who has never heard of the DCI subculture. It strikes emotional chords with it’s coming of age story and doesn’t sugar coat how hard it can be to be a marching member working at such a demanding level. This is a perfect opportunity to bring someone who’s never heard of drum corps to see what it’s all about.

Pick up the phone, talk to your friends, your family and your co-workers and encourage them to purchase tickets to come see the movie with you. The film was designed to be experienced in a movie theater with the audio performance recordings that were not only captured in 5.1 surround sound, but they were mixed by Academy Award winning Re-Recording Mixer, Gary Rizzo at Skywalker Sound. “Scouts Honor: Inside a Marching Brotherhood” resonates with all age brackets and fans of all different drum and bugle corps."

26 more tickets need to be reserved before 3pm (EST) tomorrow! Please notify your New England area friends about this Foxboro screening right next to Gillette Stadium before the Boston Crusaders 75th Anniversary gala & DCI performance. Here's the ticket link: http://gathr.us/screening/11113

Thank you,

Mac

Is Hunter, that kid from the "Scouts Honor" movie, marching this summer? I remember the postscript of the movie saying that he couldn't march Summer 2014 due to family obligations. Just wondered if he made it back.

No, Hunter has not marched in DCI since the 2012 season, when the movie was shot.

We were hoping to have it done by now, but we're in the midst of prepping the extras for the bonus materials. We'll certainly make an announcement when we have a date and when we will start taking preorders.
