Me too, but expect changes VERY soon.

Eastern corps will be competing at Veterans Stadium in Erie PA. Schuykill Thunder will be looking for a home-state boost at tonight's performance. Valley Vanguard is hoping to build on last night's strong Open Class performance in Bowling Green, while The Blue Raiders will try and turn things around after a disappointing result in Bowling Green last night.

In the midwest, Greenville MI's newly built Legacy Field, which is being heralded as one of the hidden gems among this state's venues, hosts a tiny slate of corps in tonight's show. The main competition will be between Open Class groups Northern Lights and Northern Stars, while Great Lakes Sound and Mackinac Island Crusaders will be focused solely on entertaining the crowd and honing their programs further.

Southern corps continue making their way back from the west coast, with a few stopping at Owasso HS in Tulsa OK tonight. The Golden Panthers group headlines this event, with Kaiju Corps being the lone other entrant in Class A.

In Cheyenne WY, all eyes will be on Dewsbury Regulars in World Class at tonight's show at the rebuilt Okie Blanchard Stadium. The British group turned in a very solid performance in Logan that had the staff at Ivory Brigade looking nervously over their shoulders. Can the Brits turn in another solid effort tonight and move past the defending champs? Another corps to pay attention to is Western Wind, who had their season premiere last night in Logan that gave their staff some reasons to feel optimistic despite a low initial score.

We caught up with Corps Director, Col. Eirik Bromley, Retd., West York. Reg. Drum & Bugle Div., after last night's show and asked him to what he attributed the latest increase in the Regulars' scores.

"Well, until earlier this week, we kept scratching our heads after each show, wondering how we could receive such nice scores in music and visual, but General Effect kept issuing low numbers to us. So finally, I went up to the DCPI executive in charge, and demanded to see General Effect, and ask him why he kept marking us down. One would have thought that the General would appreciate our military background, bearing, and style, but apparently not, and frankly I was curious to know what army he had served in!

"Naturally, you can imagine the scene which followed as we cleared away the barriers within our common tongue, and with a greater understanding of your peculiar American scoring system, we have been able to improve nicely where necessary. We still have miles to go, of course, but hope we will be near the top at the end."

Cheyenne seems to have been a turning point for the corps of the Mile High Performing Arts group.

Director Leon beamed with pride as the corps took the field in the state he once called his drum corps home.

The biggest turnaround came from the world class Alpine Scouts, who saw a nearly 3-point increase from Logan. "We added in some much-needed visual items that really packed a punch into our GE score, which was the only thing holding us back. Looks like from here on we have a real chance to be a contender this season."

The Alpine Cadets and Western Wind also saw some boosts in their scores, but still have some work to do. "The corps will be getting some rehearsal time after the conclusion of this western tour. We may be looking at a few show re-writes to get that pesky GE up to where the judges want it."

Looks like a lot of corps finally had the breakthrough in scores that they were looking for! Now we'll look to tonight's events to see if the trend continues.

Corps returning from the western swing stop at Jonesboro HS in northeast Arkansas, and are joined by River City Regiment, who are back in action after their win in Bowling Green OH. Hopefully the long cross-country drive hasn't put too many bus miles on their legs.

After nearly stealing the show in Cheyenne last night, Circle City Sound hopes that tonight will be the night they break through for a win at Cherokee Trail HS in the eastern Denver suburbs. But Violet Knight, Star of Jupiter and Dune Battalion all stand in their way. And in Open Class, Abracadabra Academy had an excellent show last night to top the field and look for a repeat performance tonight, but Mercury, Texas Zephyrs and Dark Knights B are all scrambling for the top spot as well.

Just in case they never do it again, I would like to congratulate the Huddersfield Hundred for winning the Open Class show last night at Erie, PA, in their first competition of the season.

"Lawrence! Lawrence! Lawrence!"

Tonight's shows:

The main show takes place at Cicero-North Syracuse HS in Syracuse NY, a very nice venue that received a much-needed surface upgrade last year. Huddersfield Hundred and Schuykill Thunder are looking to repeat their successes from Erie as they break in the new turf, but The Knights, Royal Crusaders and Golden Panthers B are eager to play spoilers.

After scoring a great win in Greenville, Great Lakes Sound headlines a small group of corps appearing at Bradley-Bourbonnais HS in Kankakee IL.

Huddersfield would like to thank the gracious crowd at Syracuse for their support, though we're pretty certain that bringing the hot Arabian sun of "Lawrence" to their cold, snowy town was much of the reason they appreciated our show.

Open Class and Class A corps will have the field totally to themselves tonight at Desert Hills HS in St. George UT. Enlightenment and The Colonels will be trying to match big brother Thoroughbreds' recent success, but Texas Zephyrs and Dark Knights B are eager for a win themselves.

After collecting their first win of the season last night, Dune Battalion will be trying for a repeat performance in Slinger WI, a small town outside of Milwaukee known for their short-track racing. But Polaris Regiment will also be out for a home-state win themselves.

In western Tennessee, River City Regiment will try to even the score against Panther Prime at Dyer County HS. Also, Pandemonium NZ and Easy Company will be squaring off in Class A.

In Ottawa ONT, corps travel to the new TD Place Stadium for the first Canadian show of the season. This venue is built on the site of the old Frank Clair Stadium, which suffered a partial structural collapse in one of its grandstands a few years ago and had to be totally renovated. You can bet that Les Blanc Chevaliers will be feeling energized to be back on their home soil and will try and upset Huddersfield Hundred, who are looking to win their third consecutive Open Class event.
