Screamer
"Ride" or "Sevens" by Samuel Hazo would fit for maybe cadets, blue Knights or BAC. Edited August 27, 2015 by Screamer
IllianaLancerContra
3 ideas I have suggested before 1. Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass (could work well for a smaller corps) 2. The Troubles - West Belfast Story (could work well for Pioneer) 3. Lynyrd Stryvynsky - The Freebird Suite
BoyWonder1911
Why hasn't Boston Crusaders done the music of Boston? Is it that Boston won't let Boston play their music? Or has it just not been seriously thought of? I think it could translate really, really well into a drum corps show. Lots of melody and rhythm. They don't even need to have an electric guitar player in the pit, if they had the brass section to do it well enough.
Ghost
Why hasn't Boston Crusaders done the music of Boston? They're waiting for Chicago to do Chicago Transit Authority and see if the judges like it.
lindap
Whimsical post as inspired by Ghost;) Music from Chicago. Earth Wind and Fire, Manhatten Transfer, Blood Sweat and Tears
BoyWonder1911
They're waiting for Chicago to do Chicago Transit Authority and see if the judges like it. I hope you were merely being facetious. A top 5 product could be made from the music of Boston.
Ghost
I hope you were merely being facetious. A top 5 product could be made from the music of Boston. Possibly, but BoyWonder mentioned the Crusaders, and currently they're not a top five corps, and the current top five may be hard to remove. BoyWonder1911
I know I mentioned BAC but given that they were technically proficient enough to compete with that level, I think it could be done. Heck, Crown did "Rach Star" and got what, 4th?
mingusmonk
I know the ship has sailed on drum corps jazz. But of note ... a GREAT CD of jazz vocalese came out in September. Think 1990 Crossmen New York Voices material. The Royal Bopsters Project.
