DCP-I Season 24 Schedule

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone! Here is this season's DCP-I tour schedule, leading up to this summer's Championships at...

new-meadowlands-metlife-stadium.jpg

METLIFE STADIUM, EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ

I will break this into several posts for clarity, and in order to avoid a massive wall of text. We have attempted to design tour schedules that intersect and overlap several times, giving corps many "jumping off" points and a variety of options. Each tour has more shows than you can sign up for (a maximum of 30), so you will have to pick and choose what days to take off. With one exception, every Sunday will be an off-day, but designating travel and rest schedules is entirely up to you! And, of course, if you want to have your corps funded by a billionaire, so that they can perform in New York one day and California the next, that's your call, too.

I hear Warren Buffet has a few million lying around he's not using- maybe he could loan it to some of our fantasy directors

EARLY SEASON: THE REGIONAL TOURS

(June 12th through July 11th, 2015)

The first four weeks of the season will involve three regional tours: East, Central, and West. The Western region will split into two sub-tours (Northwest and Southwest) due to the vast distances involved. All three regional tours work their way towards Madison, WI and the Forward Dynamics Invitational, the first major "all corps" show of the season. There are no "mandatory" shows in DCPI. But the bold-font shows (almost always on Fridays and Saturdays) are highly recommended and almost certain to be part of the season's Sweepstakes standings. The regional tours do not have class limitations: any corps, any class (World, Open, A) can sign up for any show.

The big shows of the Regional schedule: the CLASS organization gets the first Saturday of the season all to themselves for their annual Championships in Bowling Green, KY: essentially a DCPI "Preview of Champions" this season! The Regional Finals will be on the Fourth of July this year. You will only need to sign-up for the Regional Prelims when you fill out your schedule: you will be automatically entered into Finals if you qualify and Regional Finals will not count against your 30-show maximum. The FANFARE organization has their Championships in Whitewater the day before the big Madison show. And the week after Regionals, the first big unifying show in Madison bids adieu to the Regional tour and the start of the National tour.

*sigh*

One of these years Open Class will go back to Texas...one of these years.

Recommendations like this are what we are looking for. I want to accommodate as many requests as feasibly possible, and I'll need to start making a list. Be sure to remember this and bring it up after the season (I will start a requests/recommendations thread in mid-August).

It's not much, but Open Class can participate in the El Paso show on June 30th.

Oh, I know. And I completely understand why not, given that Open Class corps generally stay on their own tour up in the Midwest for most of the actual tour.

But it'd be nice to have a Southern swing for them sometimes, too. And be able to show up at a home show.

  • 4 weeks later...

Question. I see on the Schedule selection for Open/Class A during Finals week there are 2 prelims shows, on 8/3 and 8/5. Do we need to select both of these and does both of these count towards the 30 limit?

The 8/3 Prelims is the Open/A Class Prelims that feeds into the Open/A Class Finals.

The 8/5 Prelims is the first day of the WORLD Class Prelims. Open/A Class corps are invited to compete against the big-boys just like in DCI.

You must enter the 8/3 Prelims to be eligible for the Open/A Championships.

The 8/5 is more optional but strongly suggested.

To the best of my knowledge, both count against the 30 limit.
