OFFICIAL DCI FINALS THREAD

Recommended Posts

Give them time. Aungst just joined. BD is successful because of consistency. Crown can't do that if they keep cleaning staff every few years.

Exactly. And are people REALLY going to compare their performance and placement this year to the last two years? It's night and day how much better they were this year. Not to mention the fact that they had ONE returning snare vet and ONE returning bass vet... and only two others in the battery with world class corps experience (that I know of).

its really amazing when you think about it... but nobody dominates wins in any sport or activity like the Blue Devils do in DCI Drum Corps. For over 3 and a half decades now, its really BD, and then the rest of the field. No other Corps is remotely close to the number of wins they have won for themselves. You just have to tip your hat to them. Their title was vulnerable from 3 others that could have taken it from them tonite. But in a hostile environment, they stepped up bigtime in performance to retain their Title.

Honestly I liked the Cadets the most tonight. I really thought they had won it. Their pit is amazing!

Dillan the drum set drummer for BD is getting signed to Pro Mark.

For music people, when a corps steps on the field and plays and drums like the Cadets did this year...you generally think they won. Guard and GE hurt them this year, but clearly they sound like they are the BEST. It's why I've always been a fan. Music first for me. Same with BD when they are on. So good at music!

I hope this finally gets the message across to Crown that their decade-long strategy of hiring older, retired percussion staff who've been out of the activity for a while isn't going to work. As long as they keep trying to fix percussion with "safe" people (Beddis, then Hannum, then Aungst), they flat out won't be attracting the talent that they need. Clean the whole staff out and get someone fresh if you want to have any hope here, Crown.

They need to bring in the Pulse Percussion staff currently at the Blue Stars. A lot of Pulse performers spread out to the Bluecoats, Vanguard, Blue Knights, etc. If they go to Crown, he can bring those peeps to Crown. Keep in mind he also is the caption head for Chino Hills High School (Best WGI High School Drumline) So he has a hell of a talent pool with Chino Hills HS, Pulse and POW. Just sayin.

Congratulations BD. Since 1984, only one corps had placed 2nd at semis and then won an unshared title at finals: the 2008 Phantom Regiment. And now the 2015 Blue Devils.

That was a great performance tonight.

It's just too bad the it wasn't a crowd favorite/GE powerhouse that Phantom had. Yes, true stat, but feels like apples and oranges.

[[ Had performance order been reversed,]] I have no doubt the BD would have gotten a couple perfect scores.
