Hrothgar15
what a skewed perspective of the vast majority of g hornlines, lol Read my comment again. Crown is the only corps to keep the type of sound corps were *intended* to produce based on the unique instrumentation. Obviously most corps didn't even get there back in the day, but the top 8 hornlines each year or so definitely did. drumcorpsfever
I couldn't explain how they do it, but there definitely is a rather unique "Crown Sound". However they do it, the horn line can be breathtaking. Edited July 22, 2016 by drumcorpsfever

Jeffe77
Per the leaked recaps Crown's percussion is doing very very well score wise.

MikeRapp
I couldn't explain how they do it, but there definitely is a rather unique "Crown Sound". However they do it, the horn line can be breathtaking. We have a Crown instructor who is now teaching here in Nashville, and he said they teach the kids to pitch correct their horns (sharper or flatter) based on the natural sharpness or flatness of their specific instrument. IOW, play a specific note slightly flat, or slightly sharp, so that the entire brass line is playing the exact same pitch. He also said they slightly stagger attacks on big hits (back line leads front line) so that the sound wave from each horn hits the judges' ears at the exact same moment.
