MADISON SCOUTS 2016

Recommended Posts

Wow! Good to see the Scouts finally modernizing.

Felt like a mix of BD, Bloo, and Crown stylistically (in a good way).

They have a good product to work with this year!

Yes indeed.

Leaps and Bounds into the future of Drum Corps electronics. And it sounds amazing...

What's that part of the show I'm hearing...it's like...catchy....sticks in my head...easy to remember...pleasant sounding....oh right...Melody....they'll never win with THAT in their show.... ;-)

I know, the judges are going to hate having complete musical ideas that flow together.

I hope they do well competitively this year (not that they didn't last year). I am SO thrilled with the product they have this year. It's been since 1995 that Scouts have had my favorite show of the season. They have a shot at it this year for sure.

This is the best show they have had in at least 11 years. I can see so many good things happening to this show as the season progresses. I might end up liking this more than the '99 version by the end of the season.

Just watched the video - and I think I have whiplash from the design. The entire program feels forced to me - on a couple of levels:

My two cents - there is no consistency or flow from one idea to the next. Too much chaos, especially in the end of the show. I think the design team was trying too hard to make this show different than the 1999 show. It's extremely difficult to redo a popular or successful show concept, and in my opinion this is the perfect example of that. The kids look and sound great, but the show design is choppy.

I will sit here and wait to be loathed by Scout Nation. I see tremendous promise for this show and am looking forward to watching it grow all season. Get get'em boys.

I'm no Madison honk. I thought the way they put together the Judas POV was well really done. Quite a challenge to overcome since a lot of JCSS is light-hearted material used to pull the audience back out of what is ultimately a pretty dark story. IMHO JCSS is all about Judas -- he's trying to save a man he loves from what he views as some deluded, distorted vision. The storyline of the show is "what the he## are you doing" to "what the he## were you thinking".

I'm not gonna officially revise my prediction post but if I were -- this is the corps I'd move up. A lot. I think they have a vehicle that can push them right to edge of top 6.

I hope no one comes at you for expressing your opinion.

I agree and disagree with some of your statements. I do think it is a bit choppy and there is an odd transition at one point from one piece to the next, but I feel that will get ironed out as the season progresses. They added a lot to refine and enhance the show over the course of the season last year, and it paid off big time. I would expect them to do the same this year. IMO, the ending needs work, but it's only been on the field for about 8 days. I'm not crazy about the smallish whip type flags the guard uses during the drum break. I feel like those need to go.

I don't feel the staff is trying too hard at all. I feel it is an extremely entertaining, aggressive and energetic show, which I love. It's my opinion and preference - there is not such thing to me as too loud or too fast. It's also very well designed, but musically and visually, with a few hiccups that will get ironed out, I'm sure.

I feel, this is their best product, from a competitive standpoint, since 1999. I also feel they will move up this year. This show absolutely has a shot at 6th place.
