N.E. Brigand
For some reason, I thought it said breasts. While "beasts" is often how the line is given, it was in fact "breasts" originally. It's a line from William Congreve's 1697 play, The Mourning Bride: "Musick has Charms to sooth a savage Breast, To soften Rocks, or bend a knotted Oak." That play is also the source of this: "Heav'n has no no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn'd, Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn'd." Which itself is now better known as paraphrased, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". Most curiously, that play came up in a discussion earlier this year. Cappybara
Ouch. I hated that show too. Yes, but also because of the message the show had. It encourages people to question and protest, which is what the citizens of North Korea should do.
luv4corps
. I read OP's post and realized that visual may not necessarily be a part of this plan but if it could be, I'd project this poster behind a giant scrim. My show pick would be 2012 Crown. That show affected me as a human being, humbled me, made me feel part of something bigger than myself. How could anyone listen to 'Fanfare for the Common Man' and not realize we are all in this together? N.E. Brigand
Phantom 2008 Spartacus, as a reminder of the fate awaiting many tyrants. Fun Wikipedia fact #1: Kim Jong-un is the world's youngest head of state, being just 32. Fun Wikipedia fact #2: in 2011, shortly before his accession, all other N. Korean residents named Kim Jong-un were forced to change their personal names (the edict actually said that officials should "train them to voluntarily" do so) in order that he alone would bear it. Apparently "Kim", the family name, means "gold", while "Jong-un" means "righteous grace". (I wonder if this thread will lead to DCP being hacked.)
JoeDz
Just keep looping BD's "Yowza, Yowza, Yowza......"
Jeff Ream
I admit I stole this idea from NEBrigand in the BD Ink thread, but it's worth it. THIS link describes how South Korea has been blasting news and Korean K-Pop music across the border at North Korea, and promises to stop if the North doesn't declare war. "The 48 loudspeakers have been blaring broadcasts for two weeks — and could be heard from about 12 miles away. The radio hosts mocked Kim Jong-un (“No foreign country will welcome Kim Jong-un, because he is a dictator." Funny in itself but I wonder: Which drum corps show would you blast across the border at the N. Korean people and government? Any year, any show but do tell why and what message you'd like the show to say to the N. Korean people. I'll start with the obvious: I'd play BD's INK show on a constant loop and, for once in my life, yell "Turn Up The Amps!" BD 2010
