Jeff Ream
yup, and that is/will be the case wherever finals is held,................ right. which is where marketing circuit wide and locally comes into play. Annapolis was a great way to market to the next generation...and it didn't happen

Gary Matczak
Except, say, a location in NJ... where numerous corps are based, including those relatively nearby in PA, NY and CT. Okay, so in NJ area we have Cabs, Fusion,.......then Sky, Cadets,...............then further Bucs,.............then further? Submit a bid? Bigdrum73
Suggestions: 1. In Rochester move the show site, the current stadium and location is not good, Fauver has a capacity of 5000 2. Get some real advertising, do you realize a local Radio show (bob lonesberry) called the people that participate in the activity Dweebs on Friday of the show weekend 3. Make the corps rehearsal sites part of the show, easy to find, posted hours, sell tickets at the rehearsal sites. Best of luck growing your activity,. Fran Haring
Okay, so in NJ area we have Cabs, Fusion,.......then Sky, Cadets,...............then further Bucs,.............then further? Submit a bid? Bushwackers and Sunrisers, too. Gary, if I could submit a bid tomorrow for the show to be held in the Bushwackers' current hometown... I would do so. Gotta raise just a bit of cash (OK... a ton of cash....LOL) and do some "Ivy League " persuading first.

Fran Haring
corps did not like Annapolis,.............way to expensive, horrible to get around,.........are you saying there are more young people there? or just different? How was Annapolis more "horrible to get around" than Rochester? Many of the corps in both cities didn't stay downtown... they stayed out in the suburbs, near the airports for both cities. Yes, I know there are several corps that stay at that downtown hotel cluster near the convention center in Rochester.. but it's not the majority of corps at the event. The commutes for the corps staying near either airport (Rochester or Annapolis) are not long drives. Both airports are very accessible, even though Baltimore's BWI obviously is larger... and with Southwest having a hub there, airfares can, on average, be lower than smaller airports like Rochester. . And the corps and fans who did stay in the city of Annapolis.... "downtown" if you will... had access to the shuttles the city ran to and from the hotels and the City Dock shopping/restaurant area, plus the Naval Academy, among other places to go and things to do. Our big gripe in A-lis was trying to find a quick bite before Prelims and really no place to park. Probably in wrong section of town but nothing like parking illegal grabbing Subway and then parking in front of someones house half to mile a away to gulp it down. Then again Sunday breakfast in Ro-cha-cha before the Alumni show was the drive thru at a donut shop...... Took the Naval Academy tour and got to drive ourselves around on my govt ID. That was nice but Friday lunchtime traffic with schools in session and guards/kids still learning how to cross the streets.. YIPE
N.E. Brigand
2. Get some real advertising; do you realize a local radio show (Bob Lonsberry) called the people that participate in the activity dweebs on Friday of the show weekend? What's DCA's advertising budget? How did the subject of DCA come up on Lonsberry's show? Does he normally only talk politics, or does he have on guests to promote local events? Maybe DCA should offer him a ticket to Finals next year.
Jeff Ream
corps did not like Annapolis,.............way to expensive, horrible to get around,.........are you saying there are more young people there? or just different? a lot of band kids there to suck in and make fans and potential members...which means parents to follow the kids and buy tickets too
