It will make the look a lot cleaner and uniform. I never thought I liked the old Trooper uniform until they switched to these. From a classic look to a poor attempt to be modern. Nostalgia is great, but it doesn't always equate to the needs of today's shows or performer preferences. It's time to crack the top 12 again. They just look like people who never learned how to walk. Oh, the new uniforms are meh. Plus on the new headgear, major minus on the droopy "belt/holster." I would take your approach and run with it. Make a clean break from the cavalry uniform. Trying to retain a semblance just makes it look like Brundlefly. Half this n half that.
