Troopers 2016

Recommended Posts

Troopers' center snare of the past 5 years could have walked into any DCI snare line anywhere. Instead, he chose to age out with Troop and help build the corps. He's a talented and level-headed young man, and has my endless respect.

This is exactly what the drum corps activity needs. Members who stick with their corps. Good for him. As for him walking into any DCI snareline, every center snare in a top 20 drum corps could make a DCI line.

What happens if Troopers make the top 12? People will post it's because of the uniform change. It's a no win situation!

Yeah ok.

HockeyDad could be correct. In 2012, uniforms received a huge part of the blame for the corps' placement.

Well, If they say that, would they also submit that when the midseason 2nd-3rd placed ranked Cadets dropped their 80 year traditional colors right before Championships and then dropped to 4th place at Finals that...... " it was the uniform colors change " ?. If Cadets move up from 4th to medaling at Finals this season, will it be because they kept the same uniform and colors as last season for Finals this season ? You see, it can be played out any way one chooses. But basically, if Troopers make Top 12 this season ( my hunch is they just might ), it won't be because of the duds they've got on.

Some liked it... some didn't. Its the same whenever a Corps changes their uniforms. There is no correlation by the way between the duds a Corps decides to wear, and placements. Corps have radically changed their traditional uniforms and colors and have moved up in placements, while others have quickly fallen back in placements, then disapeared altogether, and folded. Other Corps have kept their unifiorm styles and colors and moved up in placements, despite not changing their uniforms in the least. Others with no radical changes in their uniforms and colors fell back in placements, then disappeared. Bottom line ? Uniforms ( or costumes if one prefers ) has no relationship to upward or downward placements no matter what anybody tries to tell you. What moves Corps up or down in placements is the adult created show designs,, principally, the Visual/ Guard. With the Guards being so important, and Guards changing their costumes EVERY season, it really does not matter a wit what the snares are wearing or the tubas are wearing. As for the Troopers, they have changed their uniforms a lot over the recent years, and it has not changed their placements much at all. Troopers will move up, down, or sideways this seaaon in placements, but it won't have anything at all to do with their uniforms and guard costuming they decided to go with this season. Cadets were ranked in 2nd , 3rd place mid season when they scrapped their traditional colors for their uniform for the unprecedented black colors for Championships. They wound up in 4th place. The radical change in their traditional colors had them fall in placement after the change. Should the Cadets finish higher than 4th this season with the identical uniform and colors they wore at Finals last August, that same uniform and its colors won't have anything to do with the rise in placement either.

Re the design of the Bridegemen uniform in 76, the final version of the uniform ended up quite different than what Hoffman had originally designed. The original design was thoroughly rejected by the membership. See Hoffman interview for more info

I do like it when marchers can put to a vote which design of a new uniform they want,... or not want.
