Bass Trombones

I've played bass many times. I actually prefer the bass to lead, especially in symphonies where you typically have many exposed parts. I started as a lead player, but I really like them low notes. I own a Vincent Bach 42BO, which is a big bore tenor, but sounds really nice in the bass range. I'd really like to get a 60BO, so if anyone has one they'd like to sell, let me know!

Switched to Bass in High school. Was required to play a small bore for the solos in '86 and '87 VK. Then started getting more jobs on Tenor. Got called to do a Bass job a couple months ago. Man are my low chops sad these days.

Still nothing cooler than a honkin' big band bass-T.

I have always played lead baritone in drum corps, but some of my most fun experiences have been on bass trombone. (I am a tenor player). I have done some gigs on bass in south Florida. It's a load of fun. Low C below the staff is my favorite bass bone note.

Hey I'm in South Florida too. How do you gigs for bass bone? It seems ever where I go they want a tenor player.

BTW my favoite note is a pedal F (and pedal C, but only on bass) because I can play it on any horn and it loosens my chops when I've been playing higher parts.
