PhilSCV
The Oregon Crusaders has announced its 2016 program "Hunted" which looks to be a very fast-paced and exciting program with music by Muse, Queen and more. They have trumpet, euph and guard spots, so interested folks should definitely check them out and do a video audition. Just about the best design and instruction staff you can find. DrumManTx
Muse...Queen...Bjork...Hermann...Akiho. Love every one of those composers/artists. Particularly excited about the Queen and Muse songs, those should be really cool. Theme seems pretty dark, more along the lines of 2014 which I absolutely loved. This has my interest HIGHLY piqued, more so than any other announced stuff this year so far. Always one of my favorites on the field since 2011, don't think this year'll be any different. Had their highest finish since the move up last year, hope they can continue to build on that. Love their aggression and performance energy, this program definitely lends itself to that on the surface. Bring it on OC, this should be really fun.
DCI Nerd Alert
I, too, am impressed by the music selection. Show looks intriguing. Looking forward to seeing what they do with it! Bjork ... nice! Muse...Queen...Bjork...Hermann...Akiho. Love every one of those composers/artists. Particularly excited about the Queen and Muse songs, those should be really cool. Cadevilina Crown
So I take it OC is the first corps to perform a piece by Bjork that is not from her "Selmasongs" album? Edited January 25, 2016 by Cadevilina Crown
ibexpercussion
Can they continue getting strong enough talent to make a move closer to a World Class Finals spot? Always excited to see what OC has to offer!!!
DCI Nerd Alert
So I take it OC is the first corps to perform a piece by Bjork that is not from her "Selmasongs" album? Correct. According to corpreps . com, Overture and Cvalda are the only two Bjork compositions previously used in DCI. Excited to see what they do with Hunter!! Go OC!! luv4corps
Looks like a winner and right in the center of OC's lane. Judging from the promo banner, I can't help but wonder if we'll see a return of those haunting eye props from 2014? I think I was one of the few who understood what those were about - and liked them! flammaster
When are they coming to our shows in N. Cal?
DCI Nerd Alert
It looks like they aren't scheduled to travel to Northern California this year - which is weird, because Portland isn't too far from NoCal. Have they ever competed in the California shows? Maybe they should ........ When are they coming to our shows in N. Cal?
luv4corps
The first year my son marched OC was 2010 and they had a California arm of tour scheduled but ended up cancelling it. That's the last I heard of California for OC. They do go so far south as Medford which is a few miles from the Cali border, then turn around and come right back to do the Portland Drums of Fire show. Incidentally, this year the Medford show also got cancelled - not sure why and it is likely just a one-time thing. My best guess about Cali shows is that it comes down to budget and most of all, time. OC gets started later than most with their move-ins and needs every second to catch up and be ready for their first regional, which is Denver. SCV is coming up this year again which really helps the the draw for the northwest shows. Can't wait to see this show and everyone else's. Oh boy a brand new season of drum corps!
