This has to be the lack of recaps operating as well as what DrumManTX said. I'm actually quite enjoying the uncertainty. I think that scores/rankings are much more honest this year, and they really seem to reflect the show of the day.

Sure, but I bet the corps with extremely high expectations (like SCV) have to be very frustrated with the perception that they are not even in the game with the rest of the top 5. Maybe they will be 8th, but I HIGHLY doubt it having seen this show and most of the rest of the top 12. Thats a top 4 level corps this season. I'd be surprised if these scores across the board aren't at least 2 points higher tomorrow night. I'm sure a call from the head of DCI judging will assure that. ;-)

Quite possibly DCI's chief judges are happy to let this play out, so they get a better sense of how individual judges perceive things.

Seattle Music Games scores from DCI:

[...]

O.C.

1. 49.60 Columbians

2. 40.15 Thunder

Battalion apparently was not scored.

Edit #1: in fact, you can a short video of their DM saluting on their Facebook page, where you'll hear the announcer say that they were performing in exhibition.

Edit #2: Pictures here.

Ahem. At the moment, DCI has updated the results for this contest to show Battalion has a score of 45.00 (placing second in all three captions: 17.7 in G.E., 13.6 in Visual, and 13.7 in Music).

But as I noted above, the announcer in this video (posted just two hours ago) clearly says "Performing their 2016 program in exhibition, 'Run To You', Drum Corps International is proud to present, The Battalion!"

I believe they were judged, but were officially exhibition. The Battalion's FB page had something about getting to meet with the judges after the competition. I'm guessing that if they were OK with their score, they could have it released.

Only saw the 3 world class corps in Auburn.

Oregon Crusaders - honestly, I really love the show. It's dark and weird and powerful and they convey the theme so well. Percussion is better than last year but the brass book lacks some difficulty.

Cascades - these aren't your 2013 Cascades. This corps wants everyone to know that they're back and they certainly play like it. Improved across the board even though the scores may not show it. They're looking to compete with Oregon this year.

SCV - Holy crap. That's a drum corps show. Probably the best drill I have ever seen. The music is absolutely gorgeous and this show will just continue to grow. I look for this show to be an absolute MONSTER come finals

This is crazy. Troopers and Colts outscored Blue Knights and almost Madison. This cant be correct? Is Crown really almost 6 points better than SCV? Why are the numbers so wacky.?

Crown outscored everyone by 2 full points in Music tonight. There is NO WAY thats right, they would have had to get a 16.0 or higher in captions for that to take place. Something seems fishy right now.. Are BD and SCV really looking at 7th and 10th???

this level of scrutiny of numbers will be (somewhat) valid at around midnight on July 23.

So are we not going to talk about the fact that the Cascades are 0.1 behind Oregon in GE?

An interesting speculation... I'd like to believe this might be true.
