Tonight should be a great show looking to see Sunrisers make a move up that ladder. They have a great corps this year,

Well this may "look" and "sound" good on paper. It simply does not work "exactly" that way in the real world for the most part.

Having closely watched the scores since 2004 I can tell you for a fact the DCI scores usually effect out of NE corps coming into championships quite a bit. They are generally/ always coming in behind the 8 ball where they "should" be.

Now you can make the argument that they are getting what they are getting and they are being judged by DCA judges on DCA sheets the same judges they are seeing at Championships all you want but chew on these facts.

Almost every year CV has gone up north early and got early reads and gotten scores "in the hunt" with the NE. When the DCI scores start factoring in all of a sudden they are pulled back away from the pack CONSIDERABLY and are clawing their way back up the ladder trying to get there. By the time they hit championships they are usually coming in down the bottom rung of the ladder. Ive seen similar scoring trends with MBI as well.

Does it effect championships? I say it does.. many will say the design of championships is to fix these type of issues and make it right. It may in some cases.. but in most..it does not.

Didn't seem to hurt them last year. And MBI and Govies got DCI scores for years and hasn't hurt them.

And DCA has been sending finalist panels people out to the regions every year.

There are a bunch of judges that do both circuits still. Poole, Neil, Marty come to mind without digging up recaps

Although you can not compare DCI scores to DCA scores as "Apples and Oranges",

I think you can at least say, "Peach's and Nectarines".

Lets face it. There is a DIFFERENCE. :peek:

As long as people are aware that the DCI judges have a different tolerance level when the put down the numbers, it's okay. There is no need to panic.

:ninja:

Providing of course - they are NOT versed in BOTH circuits.. Most of the panels may not give a rat's posterior what they put down, but it is what it is..

IF THEY ARE, and are still putting down DCI numbers, "just because" - they should be shot!! :tounge2:

I can't see where judges can get the idea that DCA corps don't rate getting a DCA -type eval, unless the individual judge doesn't know the difference!

After all of the years MBI got judged on the DCI D-1 sheets through DCM, we got used to having to "calculate the difference" before going out East..

Part of paying the cost of trying to stay competitive!
