San Antonio Showdown

I've never understood how a state (Ohio) that is 6 - 8 hour drive from the Atlantic Ocean and 4 day drive from the Pacific Ocean is in the MID West!!! " Mid" would infer middle.

Until 1984, it was called the North Central region by the Census Bureau.... and that seems to have more sense than Mid West. I guess Mid West was used when there was a less populated Far West.

Hmmmm.....South Dakota is in the NORTH and North Carolina is in the SOUTH. Where are Old York, Old Jersey, Old Mexico, and Old Hampshire?

New York was originally New Amsterdam but when the British took over the colony, it was named after the Duke of York in York, England. Jersey and Hampshire are also located in England. Many early colonial towns such as Plymouth, Gloucester, Portsmouth, were named after towns in England. Regarding Old Mexico, it is where the current Mexico is south of New Mexico.

Besides, both the 40,000+ fans at Montreal's DCI Finals in 1980, and half this number at DCI Finals last year at Lucas, are far below each stadiums seating capacity, so neither stadium's seating capacity pulls the attendance up, nor down.

In all honesty, though, if you put 30,000 people into a stadium that holds 30,000, two-thirds of the seats would be considered to be in the suckage area. Goal line to goal line on one side only makes only one-third of the desirable seats in ANY size stadium.

only drum corps fans could take the great news of record attendance at a regional and turn it overnight into a debate and ploy for criticism and/or a "problem" of some sort

geez - it's GOOD NEWS, let's just be happy...

Montreal and Lucus have over 50,000 seats, with accommodating size on the concert side too, so nobody is in a suckage seat in either of these type of college or professional sport type stadiums. in my view, DCI has lots of shows in small community, small H.S. stadiums too. For example, there are lots of " suckage seats" at the Bristol, R.I. show venue that DCI has every year in Bristol, R.I.. Many in the audience in thIs small field venue sit on lawn chairs nearby the end zones.... these are the classic suckage seats if you're not fortunate to have been a VIP that bought tickets to the Bristol show months in advance. On the other hand, Boston College this season for a DCI show was perfect, with a good seat guaranteed on the concert side with excellent viewing for everyone in this good sized College Stadium.

20 bucks for 4 beers? I haven't drank that cheap in forever. Seriously. A bottle of beer is usually $8 here.

Where the hell do you drink???? I can get $2.99 beers every day of the week.

No... the biggest " problem" were a few posters trying unsuccessfully to make Pennsylvania a " New England " state.. or another making New York, Virginia, etc " New England " because they were " part of the 13 Colonies" ( haha!). Well, not a " problem ", per se ( unless you are a school teacher), more like a funny trip down the US Geography& History lane that made some of us either chuckle, or raise their eyebrows at the ignorance on display. Everyone seems pleased that San Antonio had their largest regional audience in this Texas city, since they've had it here for a few years now. Theres no" problem" cited here regarding the DCI announced attendance figure in San Antonio. Its all good, regarding the San Antonio attendance.
