Bluecoats pit on using click track

Recommended Posts

I was at the Houston show and noticed all of coats pit members were wearing some sort of white devices clipped on their waist that connects to their ears through a headset. I'm not sure what those are, but some guy that sat next to me said it could be a click track (?)

Could someone explain why they would need a click track? Is it supposed to help them with tempo? If yes, isn't that kind of cheating? ;)

I will try to find a picture of their pit members so y'all can see what they look like

That was my best guess - monitors.

Hi there, I teach the pit/run electronics for the Bluecoats. I can assure you there is no click track or metrenome that goes through the in-ears. In the name of transparency, we invited John Phillips (head of judging) to listen to the ears during our lot on Saturday, and had the contest coordinator listen during the actual show.

I told the kid next to me in Denton about this stuff, it blew his mind. haha.

If you look at how the pit is set up, they don't have the connection to each other visually that a typical pit does, so the in ear monitor makes sense.

Oh thank you! That explains a lot regarding their setup is so spread out. This actually makes sense now
