pbeau
When DCA found out there are so few Mini's why didn't they reach out for a couple exhibition corps... I bet Empire might have jump on it... BAC Senior can entertain a room also.
Fran Haring
When DCA found out there are so few Mini's why didn't they reach out for a couple exhibition corps... I bet Empire might have jump on it... The mini-corps lineup isn't set in stone until after the Scranton (Peckville) show weekend... so it might be tough to schedule an exhibition corps on short notice. Plus, I gotta be honest here... and I might get lit up for this...LOL... the mini-corps show went through a period where various full-sized corps were allowed to do exhibitions. Alumni corps, competition corps. For me, it kinda defeated the purpose of a mini-corps show. Was it a show for those smaller groups, or were they second fiddle to the full-sized corps? The Govenaires exhibition this year makes sense... it's a smaller group of the main corps.... a group that I'm sure wants to give their show a "test run" before heading to China. Plus, you know anything to do with the Govies is gonna be fun to watch!!! But IMO, the solution to a smaller mini-corps lineup is not to add full-sized corps, but to recruit/entice more mini-corps to take part. However that is done is a topic for another thread.
Cathie Wiener
And also pulling information from CorpsReps, this is the corps as ordered by number of appearances in the 24 years of mini corps competition: ... Is "Dream" in 2005, which CorpsReps indicates was based in Los Angeles, the same organization as SoCal Dream? Yes. Schnitzel
This is probably a dumb question, but have any groups/sub-groups from Alumni Corps ever participated in Mini-Corps? It's such a great medium, particularly for the audience, and it would be great to cultivate more participation somehow. The Soundsport thing is only going to grow, and that has the potential to be both good and bad for DCA Mini-Corps . . .

There have been some over the years....one that comes to mind is the Skyliners Alumni. They fielded a mini-corps at least a couple of times, I believe, as did Boston Crusaders Senior. If only somebody in this thread had generated a list of all the groups who had participated in the mini corps competition through the years . . .
