I took off work tomorrow today (oops) so I can catch everyone before heading to the cinema. I'm so excited to be watching everyone from Les Stentors all the way up to Bluecoats. This kicks off what is probably the most exciting competitive battles across the whole board I have seen, and some of the most entertaining shows shows top to bottom since I have started following the activity.

Good luck to all the corps, safe travels to all the parents/fans attending, and enjoy it a little more for all of us stuck at home.

The end is here!

Not sure I'll be watching today.

I'm on vacation from work this week so I will take the time to do some things I've been putting off, and then going out this evening to play at the table tennis club.

I'll be watching Saturday on the podcast, of course.

I'll be keeping track of scores with DrumScorps app. I hope they add the scores to the app as they are released.

A few thoughts as a primer for Open Class, based on my viewing of Tuesday night's Finals:

--River City Rhythm's second drum major has two trumpet solos.

--One Guardians' guard member tosses a rifle while jumping over a radioactive waste barrel.

--It helps to think of Raiders' narration (which comes in two brief spurts) as descriptive rather than prescriptive.

--The hits at the end of Louisiana Stars' show were possibly the loudest brass sound of the night.

--Gold's drill forms include a large skull.

--Like Legends, 7th Regiment features cymbal tosses.

--Notice how Music City's king bows to the crown before ascending the podium at the end, which is a nice small touch.

--Spartans periodically tell you what's going on via words printed on their flags.

--Genesis had a newer ending than the new one that Kevin described in his Avon Lake report. It's pretty clever.

--Legends' mallet players offer a visual early on to evoke the show theme.

--Vanguard Cadets have a great unison high toss with purple flags.

--Each of Blue Devils B's basses has a drum head showing a different phase of the moon drums--and at one point the corps has drill which delivers the same motif.

I'll be leaving from my house in one hour for the grueling 9.5-10 hour drive, from St. Paul, Mn to Indy. No Prelims for me, but I'll be keeping up on my phone (not while I'm driving of course)...
