There are all sorts of different historical precedents you could draw from.  But IMO (and others if one judges by various podcasts, news stories, etc..)  it's a fairly unique situation.   Corps admin,  senior staff,  even fans may take a long view.  But MM's -- some at least -- may have a somewhat shorter perspective.

That is a good point that I haven't considered!

I have no idea what the MMs are thinking about this.

Also, I don't know the specific circumstances that caused these moves to unfold, so that why I'm taking a more macro view of the situation.

I'm sure you know more about the specifics than I could hope to know.

The following was part of a post on Facebook, yesterday, from a member of the hornline. Sometime it's the little things that matter..........

This indeed IS my fave show of the year!  SCV a close 2nd... what lures me is the wonderful flow of the show..... to me (IMHO) everything just 'gels' from the opening to the end..... the voice overs a

I have to admit...As an alum of this corps tonight is one of those milestones that I've hoped for for decades and it is finally here tonight...Is it okay for a grown man to cry a little?...that is in

I put BAC in the 5-8 range this year, and think they will beat one of the two out of Cadets and Crown.  More likely Cadets.

are you just making the prediction or do you want to expand your thinking?

Haha, trying to get me in trouble huh?

Just that if BAC did place higher than Cadets he probably wouldn't even acknowledge it, and would instead go on a rant about life lessons for the kids, and instilling work ethic.  Its about the experience and journey not the destination.  I could go on.

Sure:

Top 3 guard, Top 4 program coordination and "staging".

Top 8 brass and drums.

Brass arranging is an outstanding question mark for me.

As Cadets fans are always quick to point out, perspective is everything.  I think I just read over on that thread that finishing out the medals was considered a disappointing season.

That was me and it is. Also there was a time that medals weren't given out just placements so winning was winning and everything was not. Since awarding gold/silver/bronze, an "elite group" was created so we talk about top three. If medals were given for top 5, we would see tighter scoring in the top 5. As we see now, the magical scoring gaps open up at finals because we have to make sure the top 3 are in the top 3.

It's best to wait and hear, but I think they're building for the future.
