Cadets 2017

Recommended Posts

it wouldn't load for me :/

As Tekk said: Error 404, which in computer speak means they more than likely removed the content.

What was on the website at 5 p.m. EST was a short verbal report rehashing that it was a good camp with good turnout (especially for tuba spots,) a solid drum line, a mention of the music rehearsed (O Tannenbaum/O Holy Name-Shanefield, arranger); Patriotic Medley (for parades)-Mike Terry, arranger; Fantasy by Earth, Wind & Fire-Shanefield, arranger; and a mention but no title of the first two movements of the Show. All of this was previously mentioned by other posters. Drum line, shy fifth quad, and 90 per cent of horn line is set and will be finalized next camp.

New was a three sentence interview with Omar Carmenates, the Front Ensemble caption supervisor, and a brief pat on the back about high talent levels at auditions and with pedagogy he used. The tuba section marked TubaChristmas weekend by leading the corps and guests in a round of Christmas carols (with lyrics even.) Who was naughty or nice was not mentioned.

Perhaps all of this was too much information per Fan-in-chief Tekk's instructions about silenced radios and media during the transition from '16-'17. The announcement was removed by 6 p.m.. Tobias, Corpsband and others are now calling for a Congressional investigation before the decisive vote next week; Eleran is being kept in seclusion until then, lol..

What is on the website (go to Programs, then Cadets, then staff, then design team and visual caption) is the listing of Bobby Jones as drill designer and the omission of any mention of Darryl Pemberton.

X-correlation: A enjoyable review of videos from championships and other major contests with Cadets singing the corps song demonstrates a dramatic positive relation that how well the corps sang the corps song (tonality, timing, ensemble blend) rated with their on field success competitively. Better musicianship off the field related to better performance on the field. How well will this year's corps sing?

While it is good to hear that they're filling up their lines relatively quickly (this is kinda quick, right?), I am still keeping my enthusiasm (or disappointment) in check this year.

There's information missing. Was the toilet paper in the restrooms hanging over the top of the rolls or under the bottom?

Over the top of course. Do you think they're classless barbarians in Allentown?

How many more times will you remind us? :)

Cadets usually have their lines set by the end of January, so they're right on schedule.

If I may - that's kind of his point. "Right on schedule " has produced non- medal performances of late. So, right on schedule for a sixth place finish makes one proceed with caution when it comes to enthusiasm. Edited by HockeyDad

I'm confused by your train of thought. Cadets have had two camps so far, audition and callback. Word on the street is they have about 40 contracts handed out in the brassline and all but one perc spot set. That's pretty usual for any corps, insofar as I know-- the good and bad, the winners and losers. Cadets probably had given out the same number of contracts in 2011, 2005, etc. Drawing the conclusion that "this is what happened when they got sixth!" is akin to the comparison "they had a food truck the year they got sixth."

I mean, look, this isn't going to be some kind of blowout medalist year from the Cadets. A lot of vets left, it's a new staff. They're probably going to be in the middle of the pack again. There's no point in muttering on DCP about it, or coming up with reasons why like "they handed out a lot of contracts."

Cadets take their time giving out contracts especially brass. They know the talent will come. Two years ago, .Gino had 20+ mellos try out for the last remaining spot and this happened we'll aftter the audition camps. No need to rush the process. ST is in May!
