Carolina Crown 2017

I really don't understand a lot of the hate for the singing. It's not like hornline isn't play for an extended amount of time, they are certainly playing just as much as they usually do during the ballad at least. This is the first time in my memory that I feel the singing actually enhances a show, guiding us through this metamorphosis  (No pun intended) and this story that they are trying to portray of this creation of a new identity for Crown. I've heard they are planning to add another 45 seconds to 1 minute onto the end, can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, reserving judgement on the vis until I see a high angle. My initial thought when staff changes were made though were that a lot of people were suddenly going to realize what they had with May.

No denying that sacktig is one of the best though, too.

Jeff is great but the last few seasons with Cadets weren't stellar. 90s-2011 his best work.

Yes, I am sure they will make the soloist more visible.  Especially since she is out there singing and performing such a long time.

I agree on that...I had to really search to find her. Similar to the Cadets last year when they moved the violinist to the sideline,...I much preferred it when she was on the prop on the field.

Monster corps. Singing doesn't work

I actually LIKED most of the vocal additions the past few years, particularly from Boston Crusaders.  It's all a matter of personal taste, obviously.  As an older fan, I prefer my drum corps to feature BRASS in primary position, PERCUSSION next, then GUARD.  I do admit the growth of Guard participation has been a wonderful addition to the overall production!

The vocals, either spoken or through song, should be a bit of SEASONING on this recipe, not so much to change the flavor of it all. Having a voice dominating brass arrangements to this extent is a problem to this geezer.  But, I understand to need to add new elements. For the most part, the past decade has seen MANY fine enhancements. I'm sure the newer vocal portions will reach a happy medium for everyone's taste. I'm not going away!

Best wishes to all the corps!

She was on "cupcake".  The trumpet player was on "cakezilla".

I really like the unis. Probably my favorite from them or close to it.
