btown50
“CHANGE ALONE IS ETERNAL, PERPETUAL, IMMORTAL.” – ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER In mythology, folklore, epic poems and the oldest extant literature, metamorphosis (or shape shifting) has long been present. It remains a common trope in modern fantasy, children's literature, and works of popular culture. The shaman and the showman both have pondered the mystery and magic of metamorphosis. This most profound act of change can emerge beyond the scientific explanation to reveal a metaphor of growth, evolution, and inspiration. With a multilayered musical and visual tribute to the past, present and future, the Blue Devils present their 2017 program Metamorph. From a California community of rhythmical dreamers to a global brand of music and motion, the Blue Devils take flight from a cocoon of history and imagination. Metamorph resonates with music by composers such as Peter Graham and Simon Dobson and, at its heart, the prophetic "Everything Must Change" by Bernard Ighner. Metamorph rises in an upward trajectory of reflection and revelation. “A DREAMER IS ONE WHO CAN ONLY FIND HIS WAY BY MOONLIGHT, AND HIS PUNISHMENT IS THAT HE SEES THE DAWN BEFORE THE REST OF THE WORLD.” – OSCAR WILDE As the Blue Devils organization celebrates its diamond anniversary, the transformation unfolds as a feast of memories and exploration. The creativity and excellence of 60 years is a vast legacy of incredible performers and the ascension of a drum and bell corps to Drum Corps International's most honored ensemble. Showcasing 150 talented performers, the 2017 Blue Devils travel the United States shifting shape and sound through the discovery and artistry of Metamorph. Steps in the musical metamorphosis include: Birth of Eternity, Dreamscape, Facing Future Dave GlydeThe Triumph of Time Peter GrahamFlight of the Bumble Bee Nikolai Rimsky-KorsakovEverything Must Change Bernard IghnerCrystal Simon Dobson Join us on our discovery and artistry of Metamorph→ DCI West and Mid Cal Tickets for DCI West and Mid Cal are on sale. On the second day, MARS gave us a BDB Announcement. I sense a trend here. Can we expect the third day to include a BDA announcement???????? And now we have the answer. N.E. Brigand
Wow. May 11 and still ten World Class corps for which don't even know even the show titles? Maybe they're planning something timely, like "Obstruction" or "Kompromat". Too bad Bluecoats already did "Unmasqued".
shmeg212
Looks like a corps is finally gonna play an endless amount of runs and it won't be unnecessary because that's how that certain song actually goes. Lol Needless to say, BD playing Flight of the Bumblebee has me really excited!

chris7997
Got to admit, a little disappointed in Blue Devils 60th anniversary show theme and music selection...seems a little new agey. I'm sick of new agey.
UKSuperman
Then stick to the legacy dvds. Things are only going to keep getting more new age. I don't know what to tell you. Lol.

I don't know what to tell you. Lol. Nothing about BD's announcement or music bothers me in the least, but... Just because something is new, or old, doesn't make it good. Also, BD's show includes music that is 117 years old. Although I can't help wondering if that one is there an an homage to Drumline!
