2016 Drum Corps Associates World Championships Preliminary Competition

Drum break. Tenors, followed by snares, then full section.

Three tubas with an excellent unison sound, right in front of me.

9 guard, split between yellow flags and rifles.

There are poles on the field, I'm assuming they are "beacons" of some type.

Quintille, part of Stan Kenton's Adventures in Time suite. This is one of my favorite Kenton pieces.

A very modern approach to programming. I know there is always controversy when narration is used but they allow it to live in its own space.

And, at least from the press box, it isn't overbearing.

Also not overbearing was that squeal note from a trumpet soloist.

This is very aggressive show design for a Class A corps. Chops means to be taken very seriously.

Baritone/flugel duet on the opening melody of Fix You.

It looks like these beacon poles change color in some way. Hard to tell in sunlight, unfortunately.
