True story that I learned when I frequently billeted there on my weekends up from NY to do the judging thing for CYO and EMass winter guard shows and MAA meetings and clinics:

at the time, St. John's was built (1800's) all plans had to be pre-approved by a desk at the Vatican who when receiving the architect's plans back in that century responded:

Are you educating angels or men?  (There were no bathrooms in the original plans.) http://www.bahistory.org/StJohnsHistory.html

I don't know how long TimK will be with us as the Brown Papi's job will soon be open (he's 75) and Rome may decide that TimK's skills on DCP diplomacy may just be what the BayState needs to give him ALL the parishes of the Hub. Then we'll see the return of drum corps circuits and more contests to Bahstahn.

Would love to see a return of the CYO Circuit, but if you’re counting on me moving up the ladder, probably won’t happen.

Yes, I guess DCP diplomacy is challenge enough. Isn't that supposed to be "down the ladder" as in "servants of the servants of..." ???

CYO Nationals first started as an exhibition only event on the grounds of St. John's Seminary well before it became the renown national contest many of us loved.

No the halls of St. John’s are not bursting. The reason I say three is that they have grouped some parishes together for staffing purposes in what they are calling collaboratives and the three parishes in Beverly are grouped together. It has its advantages and disadvantages.

Glad you made that full disclosure as some ripple whenever you comment on Cadets' thread.  Something to do with '57-58 and another type of threads that ended up there in Beverly.

.Not sure that this would be a good idea ......

Is this more Politically Correct?

As for any affiliation with CYO......Not sure that this would be a good idea especially if you live in Buffalo, NY area as Catholic priests and the church are in spotlight (along with teacher) due to their illegal and immoral conduct. Did I say that nicely?

Mods,

Mr. Hall's and Ghost's comments aren't appropriate for a drum corps thread and obliquely diminish the fine reputation of poster Tim K. I withdraw my comment about promotions and the return of drum corps as Ghost and Mr. Hall enter matters which probably violate political, religious, and reputation guidelines.  Sorry TimK. You deserve better than to be swashed with the slime these two posters raise in their private opinions.

Yes, third rail discussions are not allowed on DCI, so my bad for the comments. In no way though were the comments made to "diminish the fine reputation of poster Tim K."

If using a time machine to see a particular show, I'd probably go to something earlier in the VHS era. This recordings suck. At least today's recordings are HD or greater and have digital audio. And ten years from now we'll laugh at that statement with our 10K immersive VR recordings of shows.

I would have loved to hear Argonne Rebels horn line that Sandra Opie put out.  Beyond that I would love to see a "CYO Nationals" at Boston College once again with a killer line up like there used to be.  It would be cool if BAC could hold their tribute show there in their 80th Anniversary year? A TOC show maybe?
