BD 1982

BD 1984

BD 1986

BD 1993

1986 was a great show live and on my VHS.

Blue Devils 1982 and 84 I did not get to see live but wish I had. The BD drum lines back then were the reason I wanted to join a drum corps.

Not sure this qualifies as a Drum Corps Show since it was not a competition but, the concept, staff, etc. did evolve from drum corps. I would have liked to have seen Blast! the broadway show live!

Got to see that one on tour circa 2000. Fun! But visually very confined, of course.

Yes it was. But at the time, who thought you could bring an entire venue normally performed on a football field an bring it indoors to perform on a stage. I recently bought the DVD on EBAY. There is a bonus 25 minute clip "Behind The Scenes" on the DVD. The group lived together for 6 months in a few rooms stacked with bunk beds. They painted a grid of the stage layout on a school parking lot and practiced their routine for 12 hours plus each day before the actual start of their tour which then expanded beyond performances in the states. Not too different from what the groups of today are doing to tour. I just find it amazing and highly entertaining.

45  years ago tomorrow.

(Still waiting for this set-up to pay off with the punchline, more than two years later. Thinking now that it will never happen. Sigh.)

And the follow day Troopers did an exhibition at end of the Carlisle PA Senior show and about stole the show. Pre-show exhibition provided by host Westshoremen who had not been on the field in almost 2 years.

.... this was also my first field show with a corps... 45 freaking years 😫
