Probably a little late for that now since most shows are already on the field, but I'm sure the sentiment is certainly appreciated.

Not really...if a corps wants to do it, they can find a way....granted it's more likely in a corps with no chance of winning it's division...nothing to lose there.

The judging community needs to not "tick" for the hole, tho.

Thats what Im afraid of.   I really hope DCI sees it and says theyll talk to the panels about it.  Either way it is a really nice gesture.

Someone on Reddit suggested that instead of having the hole in the show, it might be nice to have the whole at retreats.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous suggestions ever. Marching a hole - please!

Remember  a young man who's life was taken at too young of age. That he loved and shared the same passion for this activity as the rest of us. He will always be remembered by all the lives he has touched.

Marching an actual hole for the whole show seems...much.  Maybe a drill move where a hole gap is presented (not actually removing someone from the line) or even a peel out of one drummer ala what the Blue Angels do with airplanes would be a nice call out for some if they can make it fit.  A gap in the line at retreat sounds the most fitting though.  Ala the tribute corps will do to one another in retreats at times.  Spirit and Crossmen have that wonderful long standing tradition of honoring one another in retreat formations

Don't think it is realistic to march a hole.

Maybe the Drum Majors can come out for scores and place a snare drum next to them.

Or a snare drum could be placed on the sideline or behind the DM podium.

edit: the judges would absolutely have to take it into account, and it would surely impact music as well.  That is the point right?  You are going to say it is more important to march the hole than to get your best score.  Like when the Redskins played 10 men on defense after Sean Taylor was murdered, and USC took a delay of game on the extra point when they lined up without a kicker b/c their kicker died in the offseason.
