Good catch! Thank you. I fixed that in all relevant posts. Congratulations to Heat Wave. Prior to this year, their best score was 53.400 in their only competition of 2015 (almost matched in 2016 when one of their scores was 53.350). They topped that this year with a 53.950 at Woodstock, and then blew that number away in their final show with 57.400 at Knoxville.
N.E. Brigand
The seven corps not attending championships have finished their seasons. So when you want to compare these corps later to those at championships, you should use the following shows as your guideposts: Shoreline, WA –– July 8 --- Golden Empire -0.250 Columbians -0.800 The Battalion Denver, CO –– July 15 --- The Battalion -2.000 Columbians Bellflower, CA –– July 16 --- Blue Devils B -0.450 Vanguard Cadets -7.150 Gold -10.700 Golden Empire -11.800 Watchmen -16.700 Impulse -20.000 Incognito -22.300 Blue Devils C Knoxville, TN –– July 19 --- Music City -1.150 Legends -5.250 Louisiana Stars -7.550 Southwind -8.950 Heat Wave Edited July 22, 2017 by N.E. Just one O.C. corps competing on Monday and none on Tuesday, with the O.C. tour proper getting underway on Wednesday. I was in Everett last night. Interesting show: it was not organized by people who know drum corps that well or at least it had been a while (circuit competition back in the day) and all the props, busses, trucks, tractors with flat beds carrying equipment, etc., caught some by surprise and fascinated people in the stands who found set up and disassembly enthralling. Kids were really interested and there were lots in the stands since the show followed a parade. Usually this show is in Manchester, NH for Open and Beverly or Lynn for DCA, but Everett was more convenient due to the parade. Just a few notes regarding OC shows: Spartans have a different kind of show this year that's just a lot of fun. The guard is excellent, no surprise, and musically the show is solid. I believe they were underscored, so while I understand where they fall in standings and do not believe show to show comparisons by different judges always tells the story, I think you could see Spartans being a real challenge to Music City and Legends. 7th Regiment seems younger this year and my guess is their show will be further tweaked. I always get a sense 7th Regiment gives all they have and this year is no different. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is a huge hit for them and they have some great color guard moves with equipment. Raiders have a nice show, seemed a bit tentative last night but I have a feeling as the season progresses quickly over the next few weeks, they'll heat things up, especially with their musical choices.
sanjoseDCfan
I was there as well...I lost count of the standing ovations for the Spartans. Best program for them ever, if there had been more corps in competition I believe you would have seen a greater spread for them...easily 2-3 points better IMO. Also, color guard was not scored (their superpower). 7th Regiment was much improved from Cranston RI and the show is starting to gel very nicely. Raiders are still not done with the show so we should see better scores for them come Michigan City.
C.Holland
Everett was a mess logistically. I would also suggest doing the parade and show on consecutive days instead of all on the same.
