7th Regiment seems younger this year and my guess is their show will be further tweaked. I always get a sense 7th Regiment gives all they have and this year is no different. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is a huge hit for them and they have some great color guard moves with equipment.

It's an appropriate year to play an eclipse song.

It's too bad Michigan City doesn't happen on the 21st. That could have been the GE moment of the century for 7th Regiment if it was timed just right.

Then they'd have to rename the song "Partial Eclipse of the Heart."   According to my 2017 Eclipse Atlas, Michigan City is too far north of the path to see a total eclipse.  Sorry!

There were some great stories about the total solar eclipse of July, 1963, which occurred in the northeastern part of the country.

There was a documented story about a drum corps show out that way that was going on right during totality of the eclipse.

I don't have the details at present, but you can imagine the excitement that happened that day!

There's another big eclipse that will cross the eastern U.S. in 2024. Michigan City still won't be in the path of totality then either, but I think it will be closer than this year (here in Cleveland we'll be right on the path).

Unfortunately that one happens in April.

Dayton's probably very near the path. Special WGI event?

Next shows:  Nashville and Metamora on July 28

SCVC was back in competition, sans some equipment lost in an accident, and scores comfortably ahead of Music City and Legends, moving to second place on our list--at least until BDB performs on Friday. (Hmm. I'm going to be 90 minutes from Metamora on Friday.)

I wonder if we don't already know eleven of our top twelve? Although if The Company makes Finals, then there will be thirteen.

FYI, I'm traveling Friday through Monday and may be slow to update this thread.

What does that mean, why would they increase the number?

I believe The Company is an all-age Corps but still competes with DCI Open Class. They are from the U.K.

How do they determine if they make finals or not? 13th place or higher at prelims?
