Maybe being worked too hard? We'll never know, but tonight was not as effective as the last time I viewed them. I feel pretty bad after seeing/hearing this. I'm sure San Antonio will be much better. It has to be demoralizing to have other corps get standing ovations and cheers throughout, and little more than golf claps for you. Again it is NOT the kids fault. This is a show that forces you into submission, like it or not, and that's not a good idea for a ticketed event. Doesn't work for church either, btw.

CDUB
Re Cadets: we are seeing what happens when a dynamite design staff all leave at once. But no--it had nothing to do with their boss.

The member ship size is still the same-ish I believe. Don't get me wrong, I HATE 99.99% of voice in drum corps ... but if you are going to have a pit and a choir, it would have been a much better use of member numbers to add MORE singers and screw the pointless doublings in that huge pit. No one seemed to realize that 2-to-a-part in a vocal ensemble will not produce a broad vocal sonority -- ESPECIALLY BECAUSE YOU ARE OUTSIDE AND AMPED. Vocal blend suffers dramatically as a result. But I'd prefer no voice at all, of course ... but I think this is a misallocation of musical resources.

I had assumed it was going to be a fast, whiplash ending. You missed Jesus dragging the cross from end zone to end zone.

What are the chances the mics are pointed the wrong way? Surely they can't be that dumb, right?

I don't think that's it. I think it's seeing them right after BD, SCV, and Bluecoats. Big, big, big step down in design and execution. The new ending won't do them any favors either.
