Box5Opinion
Responsibilities: The Color Guard judge, placed in the stands or press box, is strictly judging the proficiency of each guard, what the guards are achieving and how they are achieving it. To put it another way, what the guards are doing and how well they are doing it. This caption is NOT about the effectiveness of the guard, nor is it about the costumes nor the flags Common on guard, do more! and clean the F*** out of it! You're the visual BEAST!!!! ndrudy2013
The new ending is a little better but I was expecting something more exciting. The guard needs to clean, clean, clean, they are killing them visually. Drill looked cleaner..Brass & Percussion are Awesome. Can't wait to see the BEAST live in Allentown & Indy.
msumello
I was hoping for a bit higher of a score seeing as how they had those days of cleaning....but at least they increased in score while BAC and Cavies decreased in score. I watched the video from last night....much better. I think the guard is doing just fine...but the routines' they're doing don't seem to be as effect as other corps. I still have a problem with what the guard is doing during the ballad...those rope flags just aren't accurate...you hold it at the wrong spot and it's going to be off more than if clutching a pole...it just makes makes it look dirty. But that's imo....so I could totally be wrong about it. Does Crown have the same visual designers they had from last year? Other than that...I think they could still medal...I wanna say the Ott is theirs...but I won't....don't wanna jinx em. Hope I didn't offend anyone with those remarks. Guard writing, although musical and high quality, is really not creating effect like an outdoor show must create. Written more like an indoor program than an outdoor book. Additionally they are faced with the unique challenge of matching the Crown brass section in intensity -- no easy task. The rope flags are clever and IMHO completely uncleanable. There's no way to get angles and hand positions completely uniform from performer to performer. Makes it incredibly difficult to create ensemble moments with that equipment. And yes -- this is the same team as last year.
