I don't understand the need to divide the sub with an East vs West mentality.

Being the died-in-the-wool Pacific Northwesterner that I am, I thought it was uncalled for to refer to our arm of the tour as a 'backwater loop'.  Other than addressing that, I don't really see an attempt to divide.

We all know it's a big country and costs a lot of money to transport the entourage that is drum corps back and forth across it.  The western corps already bear the brunt of the expense every year by HAVING to travel coast to coast and back again.  That being said, we DO so appreciate a corps from back east paying us a visit now and then, as the Cadets and Boston have recently done.

Valid points, but the BD and the SCV are always two of the strongest corps financially.  Many other corps wish they had bingos.   If the West Coast corps were the squeaky wheel each year, DCI would work out something, but I've haven't read any major, long lasting uproar.  Maybe behind the scenes the corps get a stipend from DCI.

The California corps get BINGO.  OC and Scades don't.  Whether a corps makes finals or not, the tour costs the same.

Yes it does, but a steady stream of income from BINGO sure helps big time.

Looks like SCV added some recorded vocals at the beginning of their show based on a YT vid from a recent show.  Is this the first instance of SCV ever using recorded vocals?

Granted, the vocals are very short and only at the beginning of the show.  And it sounds like a bunch of voices speaking different languages--goes well with the theme!

 Not a chance, imo.

God, you scared me. Looks like its just some mumbo jumbo speaking in different languages. Kind of like it. Interesting. They used the New Era chant in 2001. Not sure if they have had vocals other years.

Glad to hear the California corps have bingo they deserve an edge having to come to Indy every year. Casinos popping all over the place has put the dampers on Corps revenue in other parts of the Country guess we all have challenges & tradeoffs.

SCV is (to my knowledge) one of, if not the only active DCI World Class corps that has never formally used narration of any kind.

That's CLASS for ya.
