leed17
From DCI website today, edits are listed. Over 2 minutes of Blue Knights, Cavies, and Boston shows are cut, and over 3 minutes from Blue Stars...42 seconds of BD as well. We can discuss the licensing issues ad nauseum, but honestly, this all just stinks. Something has got to be done to fix this so that everyone gets paid appropriately and the shows still stay intact. Probably will never happen, but it just seems wrong to not see full shows after the kids and staffs work so hard. So frustrating... 3 1

FaustianMachine
Odd question, but will the DVD edits carry fully to the CDs? I remember in 2015 that Game On had the ballad cut from the DVD but the CD still had all of it present.

One can hope at the moment anyway.
N.E. Brigand
Every time this happens, someone reminds us that only the organization producing the DVD, i.e., DCI not the corps, can request the synchronization (i.e., video) rights. And DCI apparently can't start the process until they know what music they need to get video rights for, which is to say: after the season. (All of this makes it very odd that we all knew even while it was being performed that Madison Scouts' "Empire State of Mind" was the subject of video concerns.) Which appears to mean that even if a corps wants to only use music that will make it possible for their show to be memorialized on video, there's no way for them to know that in advance. Yes? No? N.E. Brigand
I hope I'm still alive when Tresona goes out of business.
wonker
The list of cuts that Barneveld shared shows all five of the "big" cuts to be from the BluRay/DVD sets. The two open class cuts are specifically listed as CD cuts. Is it possible that only the sync rights were the issue and that the five shows listed with the 2:00-3:00+ minute cuts will remain complete on the CD's?
